Sharp's SP600 PMP does it all with a yawn
This little PMP is certainly spectastic, the Sharp SP600 has a 4.3-inch screen, 30GB HDD, any video or audio codec you'd want (including OGG and H.264), plus an SD card slot, e-dictionary and Windows CE 5.0. The 419,000 won ($444 US) pricetag isn't even that bad, but we're seriously depressed by the "aesthetics" here. If you're going to run just any hunk of plastic through the manufacturing line, you might as well make sure that hunk of plastic accidentally looks like one of iriver's recent gems. Just saying.

My joke = fail

lettcco @ Jan 21st 2008 10:54AM
those random writing is a tell-tale sign of the beginning of a porn in classroom setting.
Andrew Lee @ Jan 21st 2008 10:56AM

Duff Man @ Jan 21st 2008 11:18AM
No such thing.
macona @ Jan 21st 2008 11:06AM
Wow, that case design screams late 80's/90's.
Jon Doe @ Jan 21st 2008 11:31AM
You can always spot an Apple fan a mile away....they are always more concerned about what a device looks like, and in turn what others think of their hardware, instead of how it actually functions. Fuck some snappy color. This is no different then my old Jornada 565 (I think it was 565.) The thing doesn't scream LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME! I'M EVER SO SPECIAL!
Fslade @ Jan 21st 2008 1:04PM
Hey, man, you should think better before saying it.
In fact Apple stuff doesn't just looks nice – they are also very easy and instintive to use. I think THIS is to think of how a device "actually functions". That's why Ipods keep being top-sellers... even if they're not the most resourceful PMP around.
SteveMB @ Jan 21st 2008 7:23PM
The only reason why iPods are top sellers is because, well, they're called iPods.
rav97 @ Jan 21st 2008 12:02PM
Engadget's tastes must be much more refined than mine, because I see nothing wrong with the "aesthetics" of this device.
groverkent @ Jan 21st 2008 4:14PM
I agree whole heartedly. it's not flashy, but who cares. I want to watch the screen not the unit.
DarkLightConnection @ Jan 21st 2008 7:32PM
Yeah I agree, this doesn't look bad.. not exactly the best-looking device, but it does the job (unlike many, many Chinese PMPs out there)
And I agree with groverkent too, I'll be listening to my Vorbis (OGG) music collection... not looking at the device..
Danny @ Jan 21st 2008 10:30PM
I see something very wrong with the "functionality" (why are we quoting words?) of Windows CE 5.0. I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
matt @ Jan 21st 2008 12:41PM
again engadget is showing how anything apple in their eyes is poo. if it looked more like an i______ they would rip on it for being a sub par apple clone. since it will do much more than any apple pmp plus has ce on it so you can do other things as well, they will rip into it for any reason they can. this site for phones and pmp players any more is pretty much worthless in the reporting they do, they probably have a script to write/fill in the form the use for anything non-apple"
SilverGixxer @ Jan 21st 2008 2:49PM
Actually Matt, Paul makes no mention of an Apple product in his article. YOU are the one who brings Apple up. Read what he wrote. He says "you might as well make sure that hunk of plastic accidentally looks like one of iriver's recent gems." iRiver does not mean Apple, even though it has an "i" in front of it. People on here are so quick to try to rip "Apple Fanboys" that they're starting to attack those who don't even mention Apple.
matt @ Jan 21st 2008 9:31PM
the comments were aimed more towards the fact that anything that doesn't have the all mighty fruit plastered on it is lackluster or sucks somehow. and yes the writers on engadget are apple biased very heavily. if you can not see that then you must be completely blind
anyway you missed completely what i said originally, no matter what it is, if it is not the fruit the writers soooooooo much love it will not get a good review here.
Paulie Walnuts @ Jan 21st 2008 12:46PM
I am impressed by this device's specs and it looks very decent to me. I would rather have this device than an iPod Classic.
leep @ Jan 21st 2008 12:57PM
Actually... the screen shows Korean to English translations... whats up with that?!?
daniel @ Jan 21st 2008 8:12PM
Er.. cuz it's sold in Korea? lol.
you should seriously learn to read.
nywytboy67 @ Jan 24th 2008 5:23PM
Just so ya's know,.......... here are da' specs AND the source: http://www.geeky-gadgets.com/?p=332
nywytboy67 @ Jan 21st 2008 2:15PM
Yup Yup!
calpolystudent @ Jan 21st 2008 4:19PM
actually, interestingly enough, the text on the screen is not japanese, but rather korean. but that doesn't go to say that it makes sense...
Sirocco @ Jan 21st 2008 6:43PM
You're seriously depressed by the "aesthetics" here? Oh, come on, it's attractive!
hugoliva @ Jan 21st 2008 10:38PM
For that price I rather buy another Axim X51v at ebay and get a 32gb cf from Newegg. For $350 I'm getting compatibility with every codec under the sun, a vga screen, a2dp, etc...
