I don't see what the big deal is with the 80GB model, it only had partial compatibility due to lack of the Emotion-Engine graphics chip, so it wasn't like it had the full-on PS2 package.

Course this also means a lot of angry customers may end up returning their 40GB models when they get home and find out they cannot play their massive PS2 collection on it. Already been happening here! Glad I got one of the original 60GB models. Guess Sony will have to pony-up with some marketing cash to smooth over all the pissed off customers (so much for that cash they saved in removing the chips!).

Azayzel

Comments on Best Buy stops selling the 80GB PS3

there are new suk's maybe it will include b/c.

pigfister

Comments on Best Buy stops selling the 80GB PS3

hopefully, Sony sticks to one SKU, that way it costs them less to produce different motherboards and maybe the PS3 will get another price drop.

Paul

Comments on Best Buy stops selling the 80GB PS3

The day they decided to include a hard-drive into the PS3-configuration was the day they decided that there will at least one hundred different releases -
