All that I am sure is correct from the apple site. But it clearly has an output setting on the ATV for 1080P in the Display Properties of the ATV, and TV's are being reported as outputting at 1080p. DD 5.1 is fine, I wouldn't say I'm blown away with it since I first had it on LaserDisc 14 years ago.
