Here it is folks, the latest and greatest that Google has to offer -- the new Android SDK. As you can see, they've made some major cosmetic changes, as well as added some functionality. Why tell you about when we can show you, though? Take a look at the gallery below and see it all for yourself.
man... this looks like crap... I hate to say it but the Windows Mobile interface looks better than this. Where are they headed with this whole thing and how is an Ugly OS like this going to take over the business mamoth that is WinMo or the Personal users heaven that is the iPhone? Really... I wated the video of this interface over at Gizmodo and it looks terrible...
So true, this thing is incredibly ugly and really offers limited functionality improvements over the competitors. I know everyone here loves to jump on whatever is new but this things sounds like a poor idea beyond being supported by google. Maybe the linux foundation will come up with something good.
Well, I for one welcome the Android Phones. I'd buy one like the mockup in the gallery any day. It's a clean design and if they get their apps working smoothly then there is little to be said against it. Maps is a nice addition, especially in GPS enabled phones. The only thing I'd really want to see in any new phone is a full qwertz keyboard. I have it on my Fujitsu-Siemens T830 and it makes the phone so much more useable. thouchscreens are fine, but nothing beats a proper keyboard, even if it is tiny. Having both (like in the T830) is just perfect. Unfortunately the T830 is discontinued and FS never fixed any of the bugs...that is really sad since it was/is the best phone I ever owned...but sadly is still in a ind of beta-status and will never leave it now that FS is not selling it anymore.
I hope Android Powered Phones with full feature sets will be out in europe soon...there are too many fashion phones with severely limited features out there now, it's time for a true smartphone again...preferably without Windows...
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
i wonder if the clock at 4:20 was on purpose
i'd think they would catch something like that if it were unintentional
Perhap, not everyone is a pothead/in college and doesn't give a damn?
Any word on if they gave the SDK (non look/feel) a facelift? Last I heard it wasn't very friendly.
Distinctly underwhealmed.
What is exciting here?
And how do you enter text on that phone. I guess it has a touch-screen. If so, where's the keyboard?

Wow, this John Smith guy sure seems popular.

I hope the startup tune is the theme from Metroid.
What is the handset in this picture?
