EverQuest 2 Valentine's Day event Walkthrough

Valentine's day is a busy holiday, no matter what online community you're a part of. World of Warcraft players are helping the love-lorn, while City of Heroes' heroes will find themselves attending a wedding. And hey, if you're looking for love offline, more power to you. EverQuest 2 players, in the spirit of the holiday, get to help out a sleaze-bag with his pickup lines, and do some match-making on the side. We here at Massively are nothing if not softies, and so we have for you a quick walkthrough of EQ2's Erollisi event quests.

There are only two questlines for the event, and both of them take just a few minutes to complete. The rewards, though, are some of the best I've seen yet from an EQ2 holiday event. These quests are pure mash notes to the players, and you're definitely going to want to take the time to snag all the booty you can. Err ... loot. Read on for our how-to, and make sure to check out our Erollisi gallery for a look at everything you can earn yourself!

The two questlines offer up Valentines day cheer, but the goodies themselves are actually sold by a pair of vendors in each of the faction cities. You'll probably find them hanging in the zone of your city that abuts the water, with the tags <Erollisi Day Gifts> hanging over their heads. These are the vendors that sell you the sweet loot we're about to show you, but they don't just take normal Norrathian coins. They take special Erollisi-minted lucre, instead. You can grab six of these special coins from one of the questlines, and more from drops throughout the world during the event. These drops take the form of love notes and hard candy (yes - the chalky, nasty, spelling impaired kind), which can be traded in for one coin each.

The vendors not taking Norrathian currency was only a half truth; they will sell you something for just about a gold piece, and it's well worth snatching up. It's a scroll of craftable items - some of which you need to pay Erollisi coins to the vendors to obtain otherwise. There are heart pillows, flowers, food, and even distilled love essences. For the price, it's a must-buy.

Before you buy any of that great loot, you're going to want to do the first of the two holiday questlines to get a nice pile of coins. It's called "Find em' a Find, Catch em' a Catch", and it'll have you walking around one of the city zones chatting NPCs up for their personal likes and dislikes. To get started, you're going to want to talk to Priestess Annalisa Swornlove in the Commonlands outside of West Freeport, just a ways down the road from the gate. If you're a goodie-good, go talk to Aaronilis Swornlove in Antonica just outside North Qeynos. Once they've explained the situation to you, you're going to want to head back into town. For now, all you have to do is run around and talk to each of the NPCs highlighted on your map - they should be pretty easy to find. The only one I had trouble with was Zak, in Freeport. He's hiding behind the big building in West Freeport, in a thin alleyway between the structure and the city's wall.

If you want to (and in the spirit of the holiday), pay attention to the likes and dislikes of these characters. It should be fairly easy to see who should end up with who. But, if you're not inclined to pay attention to quest text, just follow these prompts:
Zak should be dating Lysndra, Tyluna would be a great match for Colt, Amund would go ga-ga for Vixxi, and Marjorie should so bag Beldrin. Your match-making duties done you'll net yourself six Erollisi coins, the choice of either a handsome cloak or a stuffed Burynai, and this awesome Battlestar Galactica-inspired quest response:

You're not quite done yet, though! You still have to go talk to 'smooth-talking' Dalron Pinot. Pinot thinks he's quite the charmer, and wants you to try out his pickup lines on various Qeynos and Freeport citizens. While some of them are kind of sweet ("Was your father a Vah'Shir? Because he stole shards of Luclin [the moon] and put them in your eyes.") others are ... not so much. ("You must have great heat resists - cause you are smokin'!")

Still, it's best to humor the guy. In Qeynos, find Dalron in the North zone. Start your lover's tour with
Brandi - who is hanging by the bank. Rex at the Jewelry Box must feel your tender ministrations next. Then Alena (the Chaste) at the temple will get your attention, and lastly you'll work your mojo on smokin' Salty Joe at the moat dock below the fighter's area. Once you've spoken to Dalron again, head just a bit west to talk to your final target: Christina.

In Freeport, Dalron is at the docks in East Freeport. Brandi is just up the big ramp that runs throughout the zone, and your next target (Rex) is right across the street from her. Alena (the Chaste, heh) is further up the ramp near the South Freeport zoneline. Salty Joe is all the way down at the docks, near where you hop the carpet to the Sinking Sands. Then it's just another chat with Dalron, a cold shoulder from Christina on the second floor of the inn, and you're set!

The bad news is he foists his book of one-liners on you. The good news is that he accompanies that with a new emote spell, which either shoots hearts or daggers out of your eyes depending on which one you pick. The best news is that this quest is repeatable a second time. After you figure out where the NPCs are this should take all of a minute to do - no reason not to grab both spells!

Hope you found that helpful for your holiday celebration. Feel the love, and Happy Erollisi Day!
