I have put off buying a new LCD because this thing looks so beautiful. Wasn't it supposed to be out months ago?

I see nothing wrong with 4:3.

Keep in mind the 'square' LCDs made before widescreen became cheap/popular were actually even more square than 4:3; 1280x1024 resolutions were common for many years there. I'm sure lots of us still use one. THAT is far more squarish than 4:3.

1280x1024 = 1.25:1
4:3 = 1.33:1
3:2 (DSLRs, etc) = 1.5:1
