I've got one of the Apple laptop-style keyboards and don't see what you've got against it. It looks OK but it's definitely the best keyboard that I've owned. The short travel on the keys means less work for your fingers and the low profile prevents having to angle your wrists. There are many people, like me, that dislike the short-travel laptop-style keyboards.
