Use Activity Monitor to find what's causing your slowdown, I bet it's Parallels. Particularly older versions had egregious bugs where they would consume CPU to no end...

There are lots of people who also "throw" money to a shoe from a pricey brand while something maybe 100 times cheaper does the same thing.
