Unless it's a photo of the product alone, I shouldn't have to stare at the image (that I automatically skipped over because it was so cluttered) to figure out what the hell you're on about. Perhaps the standards are different for the company I write for, but even if it was a nice shot of the product and even if I had to keep it under 100 words, I'd still explain the basics before jumping into the features. And while I do know what a gadget is, as an XP user it's not the first thing I think of when I read the title "USB Gadget Display." Wonder of wonders, I think of my USB gadgets, like my camera and my wireless mouse. In other words, it wouldn't have hurt to thrown in a link or just call them "desktop gadgets."

If I had figured it out before I got to "Vista Sidebar gadgets," I would have moved on. Until someone figures out a better application, it's a next-to-useless "USB gadget" (though not quite as bad as those fake light-up Lava lamps).

Impressive.

Comments on USB Gadget Display does status updates slide show-style

"it's not the first thing I think of when I read the title "USB Gadget Display." A desktop gadget is NOT actually a gadget; it's an intangible piece of software.

The title is an "ambiguous sentence," like the sentence "Students hate annoying professors." Are the professors annoying or do students simply hate to annoy them?

Understand? I don't like it that you have to pay for it. I have 2 old ipaqs, palm pilots, etc, that I wish they can be converted into a useful display like this for email notification, stock tickers, etc, when you have another application in full screen mode.

KC
