If on the other hand you mean some fictional shiny happy bullshit purpose, you can stop kidding yourself. They have one purpose and that is to increase shareholder value by moving some goddamned phones. And there is nothing wrong with that.

If AT&T is willing to subsidize the phone then why in the hell would Apple stop them? They certainly haven't in Europe. The real question is, does AT&T think they can make up in volume what they would be losing per unit.
