TG Sambo rolls out web-browsing, T-DMB-packing PMP for Korea
Korean manufacturer TG Sambo has seen a few of its products released 'round these parts, but it looks like that won't be the case with its latest PMP, at least as long as it packs some of that mythical T-DMB mobile TV we keep hearing about. If that doesn't preclude you, however, the unit certainly looks to be decent enough, with it boasting a 4.8-inch WVGA touchscreen, built-in WiFi for some supposedly full-fledged web browsing, 16MB of flash memory, and Windows CE 5.0 for an OS. No word on a price, unfortunately, but you can at least get a good look at its 15mm-thick form factor by hitting up the read link below.

Now if you ignore the large TG letters, it looks pretty nice, and good UI. Not too sure about WinCE lol but otherwise looks good.
WAIT A SEC! 16MB Flash memory?!?!?! Is it 1999 again?! Or is that a typo?
Lein @ Apr 29th 2008 4:08PM
That would be 16GB, from the source article.
fischju @ Apr 29th 2008 4:26PM
If it is 16GB, this thing has to cost at least $500.

WinCE is still pretty versatile. Remember the Dreamcast? CE.NET capabilities have gone largely unrealized in the years since CE 4.0 debuted.
I'll bloody well take it over VISTA or even XP crammed onto a portable device.

Now if they could just ship that stateside, I'll rep one. This is precisely the kind of PMP/MP3 device i'm looking for...not too bulky while also slim and sleek....well may be I want at least 60GB or more......
Anyone know of similar products............w/touch screen n etc.

Sweet look, though I wish everyone would loose the misty blue theme and just go full colour with the icons and whatnot.

no one else see the problem with the name?.. or am i the only one up on 200 year old racism.. i probably would have given it a much more reasonable name
Wes @ Apr 29th 2008 4:33PM
that was my first thought. Hopefully, it's simply a lost in translation issue that would be resolved if it ever showed up over here.
blueangel00100 @ Apr 29th 2008 4:07PM
Interesting. Reminds me of the ipod touch except that is more thick.
Steffen Jobbs @ Apr 29th 2008 4:47PM
Hey!! It's a little black Sambo. Black is beautiful.
justin @ Apr 29th 2008 5:49PM
TG Sambo doesn't care about black people.

maybe they were going the russian martial arts... making it all tough sounding...
or... they just didn't google the word. Who knows?!?!?! ;)
Looks like it could be a competitor of sorts to the Nokia internet tablets... competition is ALWAYS good. :D
Ramone @ Apr 29th 2008 6:13PM
It comes with a PowerDic. I guess that's for the ladies.
DB @ Apr 29th 2008 6:12PM
TG? let me guess...LG ripoff?
UXSam @ Apr 29th 2008 6:29PM
Man... they need to put bluetooth on these new PMP players. That was one of the reason I sold my iPod Touch, because it didn't have bluetooth and the addon's made it look like shit.
tblack @ Apr 29th 2008 6:47PM
Sambo? Really?
Sambo.....
And it aint 200 years old, martin. i mean the origin mat be but when I was a kid in the 70's there was still a restaurant chain called Sambo's
Brian @ Apr 29th 2008 7:41PM
I could overlook the name but i suspect there are a lot of people that won't be able to. Not a smart move.
Seoul Brother @ Apr 29th 2008 9:55PM
And in related news, Michael Richards was overjoyed to be the celebrity endorsing TG Sambo in South Korean print and television commercials.
SHPark @ Apr 30th 2008 12:35AM
Sambo means in Korean 'Three gems/treasures'. They started as Sambo and used the brand name TriGem (=Sambo), but a few years ago changed their name to TG. But it seems they decided to use the old name Sambo again! Stupid move.

Am I the only one here not dorky enough to know what all the different screen size achronyms mean? I don't have WVGA, WUXGA and the like memorized, hook me up with numbers, will ya Donny?
