That means less heat and noise as well as increased battery life. The 7" model gets hotter and noisier than my more powerful 15.4" conventional laptop, presumably because the cooling is less efficient. (The bigger laptop has room for heatpipes and a larger but slower fan.) For the last 10 years I've been using an HP Jornada 810 (yeah, I know, it's old) for most of my travelling needs.  It's a great little machine, but I've already had to rebuild it once and it's showing signs of failing again.  This looks like it should offer the same amount of shock resistance while being roughly the same size, and it's orders of magnitude better than the Jornada. IF HP are very clever they too will switch to the Atom CPU and then the price war will begin in earnest.<br><br>I sold my 701 in anticipation of the 900 model and still basically want the 900. Previously I'd had a 15.4" Dell, in the ballpark of 7 or 8 lbs, which was just a pain in the ass to lug to classes.<br><br>But at $600 I feel I'd be better off spending another $400 and getting that 12.1" Lenovo sub-3lb-er. Full keyboard, more functionality, still small and light.<br><br>Yeah, these systems fit a nice niche, one I thought I was a part of, but I won't go with a shrunken keyboard if I'm paying over $500 (and not getting an Atom.) A few inches bigger, but full-fleged laptop. I fully understand portability and weight, but honestly what bag am I going to carry it in that doesn't look like a purse? Most likely I'll end up using a 13" laptop bag which I might as well carry a 13" lappy in.
