Everybody knows that a 3G iPhone is coming, but the other features are still a mystery. Will it have GPS? 3-5 megapixel camera, with video? How restricted with the apps actually be? Is everyone in the app-store going to try to charge for things that jailbroken iPhones currently do for free? Will they allow a proper messenger client? (Signs point to 'no')

I couldn't care less about 3G data. It's not that much faster (and the latency is just as bad). Also, if you can't tether, and Safari won't let you download files, and email doesn't support file attachments, what good is 3G anyway? Is the update going to change all that?

It's the other features that matter - like cut and paste. As for the iPhone - 3G is too little, too late as far as I'm concerned. There are many great smartphones on the market now, many are better than iphone, at least in the specs (eye candy can only get you so far), and many more will come. And even in the eye candy department the iphone is no longer king, at least as far I'm concerned.
I'm not trashing it by any means, it's a great devices but I think apple is too slow and too stubborn in upgrading and updating it. apple simply would not want to have two competing iphones when they could focus on just one (or two based on storage) skus so there is basically no competition. like i said, no factual basis to this, just using my logic.. take it or leave it.

The main allure of the iPhone is still that it is two devices in one. Right now I carry an iPod and a phone. With the iPhone, I can just carry one thing.
