Salling's interactive window tech is interactive
We've seen all sorts hip-cool interactive window installations, usually comprised of a camera for a modicum of interactivity and a projector or a display for screening the results. The Salling store in Arhus, Denmark is taking things a bit further and making the window itself interactive. There's still a camera to sense motion, but instead of a display there's some fancy window tech that makes sections of the glass transparent or not based on where the person is standing. Sure, the idea of having to walk up to a window and wave your arms around to reveal what's behind it might seem a bit counter-intuitive, but at least it'll give the loiterers something to do. Video is after the break.

Anyone see a rendering computer blowing up on a busy street, say, NYC... where thousands upon thousands of people walk past a store window every hour? Exactly how would the little jogging people deal with 100 different people walking by? Eventually it would just be a black bar... And the window, revealing itself little by little depending on if there was a person standing in front of it... would just be clear all the time. Sort of interesting thought, but in reality, not such a great idea...
I would like to see monkeys interact with this.
so how does it figure out its a woman what if its a guy with long hair?..I can already see the lawsuits coming
Pong will never die.....
Has anybody seen the new Iron Man Movie? Theres a scene in there where his windows block out the sun until he wakes up and then it displays the time, weather, and etc on themm like a touch screen PC sorta. Is there technology out there that we consumers can actually buy and if so where?
if they can invert the system it'll be quite an interesting idea for toilets: its transparent until you stand in front pisshole or cubical and then it becomes opaque (also makes sure nobody tires to be an epic marksman 5 meters away)
Anyone can make any technology looks as awesome as they want when they use a simulation composited with a green screen.
