PS2s are making SONY money.

PS3s are not making SONY money.

Increasing the production cost of the product that is not making them any money (by trying to improve the backwards-compatibility) is not a smart move.

And you answered your own question in the second paragraph. I believe there were a total of two games (at least in the American and European markets) that used the HDD. Its still selling better than the PS2 and people dont want to drop $400 for the low end PS3 that isnt backwards compatible. Just this last Christmas, I bought a slim PS2. It took forever to find a store that had them in stock. They were selling faster than the Wiis and DS's.

FIX THE PROBLEMS before offering more colors!
