WWDC 2008 keynote video now online
As usual, Apple's capped off the day's news by posting the video of the keynote. Just in case you missed the action in today's liveblog (or you want to relive the moment where Steve says "3G" and the audience spontaneously combusts), hit the link below. Us? We'll be taking a breather.
For those on Apple overload: don't worry, a little more will be trickling out but it's almost over.

I've got a fever, and the only prescription is more iPhone.
rusty shackleford @ Jun 9th 2008 9:06PM
Have you looked up eBay recently? The 2.5G iPhone prices are nuts! Starting prices are at a dollar and the bids last up to 3 days! I'm thinking about putting mine up there while the noobs don't know about the 3G version yet. Better yet, I'll say its unlocked and give them a locked version, thats like 3 times the profit.
quomen @ Jun 9th 2008 9:12PM
Hmm thanks for the answer to the question that I forgot to ask. Here's an edit to my original comment:
How much does an iPhone from ebay cost?!?
ByronGman @ Jun 10th 2008 12:02AM
@ clak
I don't suppose Apple could make it so that developers are required to give users the option to allow the messenger in the background (or not) if they choose to do so?
I mean, why think up of something so simple as that when you can show people a picture of a windows mobile phone?
This is exactly why I dislike Apple products.... the user never has any options beyond what Apple has decided you should or should not do.

@ clak
And that my friend, is why I'll have to wait for the jailbreak it to keep my sweet Summerboard themes.
bob e @ Jun 9th 2008 8:50PM
Zzzzzz... whatever
Decoy @ Jun 9th 2008 8:51PM
It's 3G? That came out of NOWHERE.
w @ Jun 9th 2008 10:58PM
OMG! PIM sync!? that came out of NOWHERE.
Steve Ballmer @ Jun 9th 2008 8:52PM
iPhone iPhone iPhone iPhone!!!!
iEye @ Jun 9th 2008 8:53PM
offering this phone up at $199 is the only way Apple can sell ths ugly as sin phone... I can bet that it will get dropped to $99, then $0... Say hello to the new RAZR...
At least the RAZR took more that 2 years to hit rock bottom, Apple has done it in only a year...
Elias @ Jun 9th 2008 8:56PM
At least the phone will always make more "cents" than you do.
Minilap @ Jun 9th 2008 8:56PM
You are an idiot, see how many people after me will approve this....
Striker @ Jun 9th 2008 9:16PM
You seem to go from Ultimate Apple Fanboy to Apple hater every other post, seriously, are you bipolar?
Richard Lai @ Jun 9th 2008 9:30PM
@Striker: iEye seems to suffer from Dissociative Identity Disorder. Too bad he only has one account for that.
Erik @ Jun 9th 2008 11:16PM
@ Elias
I hope to god that pun was intended, because if it wasn't you are some kind of awesome beast that spits out puns.
I hope it was the latter, because how cool would that be?
Daniel @ Jun 9th 2008 8:55PM
Well it's only going to be $199 for new customers. No more prepaid iPhone plan. I think you should read the page from theboygeniusreport at
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/06/09/iphone-3g-the-details-you-never-wanted-to-know/
gabe @ Jun 9th 2008 8:56PM
Engadget maybe this is your chance to bow out and STFU about the iphone 3G now!
There is plenty of other tech to talk about :)
fred @ Jun 9th 2008 9:11PM
It was a total waste to have saturated the entire front page on this site with stories about this when they could have easily had a sidebar with updates, keeping all of the new prominently displayed, while having other members of the staff run other tech news in the main story area.
Everyone would have been happy.
God only knows why they keep doing it this way.
snitch @ Jun 9th 2008 8:59PM
What did he meant by, it will cost up to a maximum of $199 globally??? cause if $199 & $299 is a standard maximum global price AT&T is not subsiding jack, unless there's something else we don't know yet
David @ Jun 9th 2008 9:13PM
AT&T is going to subsidise it massively, as is every other carrier that sells it.
That is the 'traditional' model that Apple is switching to
y'all should wait n see what contracts it comes on before screaming about its cheapness
Kent Pribbernow @ Jun 9th 2008 9:03PM
Am I the only one who noticed Jobs appeared uncharacteristically anemic in his keynote? He seemed almost drugged at times. I hope he isn't suffering health problems, or worse. :-(
happy_penguin @ Jun 9th 2008 9:43PM
I noticed that too. I hope he's not ill.
Vic the One @ Jun 10th 2008 4:01PM
It's allergy season. My guess would be you can chalk it up to that, or else some minor bug. Even if El Jobso is seriously ill, though, the man has more money than God, so he'll probably get the care he needs.
gmark2000 @ Jun 9th 2008 9:05PM
A few of us invented a drinking game for every time Steve said "3G".
Keith @ Jun 9th 2008 9:06PM
Anyone have a direct link to the file? I don't want to have to install Quicktime in order to watch it...
lilo @ Jun 9th 2008 9:07PM
Engadget, just admit that there is nothing left to overload with :-) You did try really hard. Non-stop coverage for mor than a month over just another phone with mediocre 3G, GPS and $199 price tag? Oh, sorry, I forgot the plastic back
ThePerfectCompanion @ Jun 9th 2008 9:08PM
I fear that the iPhone will no longer be a status icon like the original one was.
The price is ridiculously lower than what I expected. While I appreciate it at the same time it does lose that special feeling you'd get when you buy something you know is sorta in the higher level of things...
Also the shape is a lil too round for my taste. I much prefer the flat back of the 1.0 model. Not to mention the steel casing on the back. Yes I KNOW they chose plastic because of cheaper costs and to help with signals however I think it adds to the feeling of cheapness surrounding this version.
3G is nice though. Still though as others have mentioned Apple decided to not add in some other features.
Right now I think I'll wait for Engadget and cNets reviews on this new iPhone before I make a decision to ditch Sprint. Hell I may even stick with God awful Sprint if the HTC Touch Pro turns out to be as awesome as it looks.
Then of course the Dare will eventually be released and it too seems to be an excellent alternative to the iPhone. Plus its being made by LG if I remember correctly so it could be on Verizon's network.
Keith @ Jun 9th 2008 9:10PM
You fail at an elitist level. The iPhone being more affordable is not a negative, it is a feature.
Now, let the voting down of this fool commence.
ThePerfectCompanion @ Jun 9th 2008 9:13PM
@ Keith
Lol and I should care that you vote me down why exactly?
Is your life more enjoyable and exciting if you happen to post on Engadget and get voted up?
Do you go home crying like a lil bitch when you get voted down?
If so I feel bad for you.
As for my comment about iPhone as a symbol you know damn well that it was one when it first came out. Thats how some people viewed it.
I do appreciate it being cheaper however it does take away the luster of OWING an iPhone. Thats just my opinion. Doesn't make me an evil person.
Cory @ Jun 9th 2008 9:11PM
I do need a new phone and $199 is tempting.... but Android is gonna be worth the wait. Nice try apple. Take this phone have it slide open for a qwerty keyboard and have it run Android and I'm game.
Markus @ Jun 9th 2008 9:15PM
I'm so teched out today, my testes hurt.
maccolar @ Jun 9th 2008 9:16PM
Only $199, that's awesome. Some free Mac software.
TJ @ Jun 9th 2008 9:20PM
Not to be mean, but Steve Jobs looks really sick again. He looks very frail.
ryan @ Jun 9th 2008 9:23PM
I thought so too, maybe his cancer is back? He looks a lot thinner

Daniel @ Jun 9th 2008 9:44PM
I hope yall are not confusing the $199 to be the regular price of the phone. I'ts only $199 for the 8gb for Brand new AT&T customers or willing to sign a new two year contract.
I would think they will allow you to buy the phone then get service with in 30 days of purchasing, that way you can still actually activate it at home. I really would not want to activate it instore as AT&T is pushing for, that means they would have to open the packaging and ruin your unboxing moment and have them touch your phone before you do.
Please read this link about what AT&T Plans to do, It's supposibly an internal email sent to AT&T store managers
http://www.boygeniusreport.com/2008/06/09/iphone-3g-the-details-you-never-wanted-to-know/
marsdta @ Jun 9th 2008 9:50PM
so i read the article over at boy genius report, and an internal AT&T email said that they will continue to sell the old iphone until their stocks is depleted. just curious to know id they will be sold at the current price or maybe at a discount since the new one will be out next month
elmaremoto @ Jun 10th 2008 1:24AM
Is it me or is Steve almost too slim. Looks a little sick.
Byron @ Jun 10th 2008 2:28AM

WOW so many idiots in these blogs today. I can't believe the manure pouring out of some of you turds mouths. iPhone ugly? cheap? Can't be unlocked??? Don't like it then don't buy it you POS's. Go back to your crap Razors and keep using your shiteous PC's. The phone looks classy, has a great price, and you shud use it the way it was intended - Locked! End of discussion.
roach @ Jun 10th 2008 3:02AM
Steve Job looks sick. His cloths is barely clinging to him.
roach @ Jun 10th 2008 3:04AM
I think Bill Gates can beat the crap out him and stuff iphone up his his ass.
Ant @ Jun 10th 2008 3:34AM
Steve's sick ok, sick of the iPhone and sick of that black top that ain't been washed for years.
Ant @ Jun 10th 2008 3:43AM
They could have made sure that we could have all downloaded the new firmware yesterday, I wasn't non to happy, been looking forward to that for 3 months.
Was it just me or was this a non-event. All the stuff the phone now does it should have done from day-1, still low memory, crap camera (no front camera), and a nice shinny black case to scratch to hell, it's hardly ground breaking hardware wise. I thought it was going to be a good one. Man, I think we can safley say that it's every other year when we get the good stuff not just a bit of tarting up, it should have been the iPhone 1.5.
thomas @ Jun 10th 2008 11:06AM
is it just me or does steve jobs look thinner?
He looks like he lost some pounds somehow.
remaerd @ Jun 10th 2008 6:24AM
