Even then, most idiots can fix it with a Pandora's battery (or whatever the hell these kids are calling it these days).

To me, it got old quick. I was really into it for a little while, but Ive since sold one of my PSPs, and I havent powered on the other in forever.

I think the FW installed on the PSP I just sold was on 310OE-A. Of course, the one I kept is still at its virgin 1.5 firmware.

Yeah it's immoral, unethical and just wrong, but what non-multimillionnaire kid could resist the temptation of having an entire library of SNES/MAME games on his psp, and countless PSP game ISOs ready just a button press away?

The only reason stopping me from buying a cheap hacked PSP off ebay, is that probably a new DS-lite will be announced this year, and probably followed by a next-gen psp which is really what I'm waiting for... or an nVidia device who knows.

Back when I was a youngster and the Gameboy just came out I had the need for a portable system as I was always being taken to boring functions that no 11 year old could possibly sit through without the ol' Gameboy.
Now that I've grown up, I have no real need for a portable gaming rig.....so I gave my PSP to my lil bro, and it now is collecting dust in his closet instead of mine. Seems to me that portable systems are only fun when you're at age where you are forced to attend events you don't want to!! Once you've grown up, the only time I could see gaming would be on the seldom airplane fight or if I was in the unfortunate circumstance of having a long ride on public transportation.

So no changes to the hardware, just 'those responsible'?

On DS piracy is a LOT simpler, so I guess Sony should be relatively happy (?) or sad. I really don't know. All I know is I would never have bought a PSP unless I could run some homebrew and emu on it, but I can't speak for anyone else.

MapThis! has also been a bit of a surprise (I bought Sony's PSP-290 add-on purely because of this app)... but definitely some work setting up and really needs more work to make it into a half-decent GPS app. I'm just using it for "oh this is where I am" situations, rather than it telling me where to go, which is a bit half-arsed but there you go. Tried Go!Explore thanks to the wonders of torrent, and would love to see an Australian version of this thing. Fine piece of software. Lucky Europeans!

Since Sony haven't released Australian GPS mappery, sometimes the only option is a bit of homebrew and it's a nice option to have.

Sony, add native FLAC support to the PSP please.

It's quite surprising to me that the masses don't yet have an easy-to-use app to encode movies and whatnot to your great little PSP machine, and instead have to resort to third parties to do the work you should be doing to encourage its use. But I guess on some level you fear piracy again, even though the UMD movie market is pretty much dead. Oh well...
