End result? 20x30" prints from 10-12 Mpxl cameras are noticeably soft up close. Softer than film would be. And that bothers me.

Actually we've reached sufficient pixel DENSITY in the 1.5x crop factor (see: D300). Raising that much more is not a great idea, because of noise and sensitivity issues. However, what I am looking for is that same density in a fullframe sensor size. They can also be your enemy, but once you learn how to tame the fire breathing trolls and sort through all the disinfo., the real info. can help you make very well informed decisions, and maybe even help you become a better photographer.
Here, I'll even give you a nice headstart on who's posts to watch in the Nikon Forums on DPreview, Watch Thom Hogan's posts, and Jeff-C. There are some other veterans in there who have access to some inside info. and post very rarely as well. But just by watching some of the threads these folks get involved in, you'd have known about these kinds of upcoming announcements very well in advance.

but damn. DSLR's are so nice. I used to have a normal SLR and spend about $100 a month on film alone, and change film 2-3 times everytime i went out, and still not know if you got the right shot.

Anyways, I was considering a major investment into the Pentax system with the K20D but now Nikon has grabbed me by the ankles and dragged me closer to their side. Yes I can get more lenses if I get the K20D, but the D700... FX... Damn. It even has quicker (than I expected) framerate.

The problem is that there is a lack of exceptional retailers in Canada and prices here for lenses suck. I don't want to order abroad because that just nulls my warranty. Canon will definitely be releasing their 5D MkII very soon (maybe Photokina in September), but they really need to get their professional-features (45-point autofocus and metering) into their new camera. I think people will be very disappointed if it turns out to be a 40D with a full-frame sensor.

I have a D300 with a Sigma 10-20mm, a Sigma 10mm fisheye, a Sigma 30mm f/1.4, a Nikon 50mm f/1.8, a Sigma 70mm Macro and a Nikon 18-200mm VR.

I always wanted to have a fullframe camera, since portrait shots just look so much better with a fullframe and my beloved landscape shooting would also get improved by not having any distortion. In addition I would get an ISO up to 25600!

So now I'm asking myself and you: What would you recommend?

- Keep my D300 and be happy?

area to collect light, its mean less amplification of signal, less noise.
( and ISO setting can be extended more )
And the effect of dust is also less. Anyhow, as I have 15mm lens etc
