ASUS Eee PC 900 gets livened up with touchscreen
If you're tired of waiting for ASUS to offer a touchscreen option for the Eee PC 900 (or you're the proud owner of an existing unit), jkkmobile is happy to show you their shortcut to touchy-feely nirvana. As we've seen on all those other Eees, installing the touch panel into the 900 doesn't seem to be extraordinarily difficult for those with a few mods under their belt and a reliable Chinese parts supplier. For those who'd prefer to simply watch from the sidelines, you can peek the video after the break and lots more photos in the read link.

Does it support multi touch? Probably not in this version but this is the future of computing. Touch screens are so cool!
DefPo3t @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:44PM
tell me how multi touch would improve this other than zooming
Neeko @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:36PM
Damn id be all over this if the screen could swivel. Still cool as is though. Would be a cool media pc if the screen could swivel.
Still cant find a good guide for the solderless mod.

I guess news is awfully slow today.... anyways a touchscreen on a notebook isn't very practical unless the screen can be turned around and folded flat on the keyboard.
DefPo3t @ Jul 2nd 2008 7:48PM
or folded the whole way back with a auto switch to disable the keyboard
Noir @ Jul 2nd 2008 8:10PM
Not necessarily, by just looking at the video till the end you can find major advantages of use even if the netbook doesn't have a turn-able lcd.
The problem with the tablets were it's early emergence (resulting in at a high price) and imo the thought of having that swivel lcd.
It's an emerging market for tablets and touch. It took its time but now is the time for it's technology to shine.

Watch the video much? No that's why you're Low Ranked.

Ye, its a foreign language so its pretty long.
BradS @ Jul 3rd 2008 9:24AM
Is that a long Start button in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?
aquatsr @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:11PM
@thedesolate1
If you had watched the video you would know that what jkk has done is extremely practical. And don't complain about the non-swivel part of it. Adding in a touch screen isn't the easiest thing in the world. If you want your screen to swivel - do it yourself.
Otherwise don't complain.
Steffen Jobbs @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:40PM
It's a nice setup, no doubt. That touchscreen should be standard on EeePCs. Look like it works very well.
He could have done the video in one-and-a-half minutes for all that he showed. So he can scroll with a touch screen. Nothing unusual about that?
Mark Lapasa @ Jul 2nd 2008 10:51PM
Sofa-surfing.... I love it! jkkmobile is the man!
james @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:31AM
what's the app or extension that he uses for his browser. The one that seems to pull up multiple screenshots of the webpage at same time.
thanks

I think its more likely hes using opera. Opera has it built in. Also the new Firefox has a thing where it creates a preview of any link if you hover over it for a few secs.
Vini @ Jul 3rd 2008 2:53AM
Thats some camp touch-screening... Ditch the pen.
