I own the TZ Series (Very thin one), and its by far the best peice of electronics equipment i have ever used. It cost me a pretty funny ($3,000) for something not that powerful, but I paid for the portability, and thats what I got :D

When they first came out, they were overpriced. Now, they can spread the spectrum and I have actually bene surprised at their prices on the entry level.

I am still not a fan of Sony laptops though, to me, they are more style of functionality.

I am not sure if I can think of many laptops brands I would buy these days. I have a Toshiba and while I like it, it is impossible to take apart (tried to fix touchpad button) and I am not sure if I would buy one again. I have looked at HPs in the past, but again, not sure if they would be an option for me. The one laptop brand I really like now is Lenovo. I have been working with IBM/Lenovo Thinkpads for the past 3 years at work and these are some solid and functional laptops. When purchasing a laptop, I only cared about 1 thing, Portability. I didn't care at all about price, and comparing every notebook I saw, The TZ-Series Sony VAIO was the best by 'far', then any other portable notebook out there...

You wont look like a douche if you carry around an Inspiron XPS, Macbook Pro, Macbook, Macbook Air, or a Satellite L series either. You know what's funny, is that one of my close friends just bought the Sony SZ series, and the HD failed in 4 days after delivery. Another one of my friends has an iBook, way back from 2001...and its still chirping along just fine. Mind you its not fast by modern day standards, obviously, but just goes to show that generally speaking, the longetiveity of a laptop from a manufacturers standpoint can be subjective. For example, Apple's customer satisfaction level was the highest of all the other makers for a while now....and yet my Macbook Pro's MagSafe adapter failed on the 2nd week. I bought my Sony Vaio SZ more than a year ago and everything still works more than fine.... My brother has Macbook Pro and the HD failed a week after he got it.
