Now just give us our goddamn imports and nobody will want to hack your system. Considering good games come out like every 3 months on average we are gonna need something to keep us busy. They removed it and dropped the price of the ps3 because a lot of people were whining about it being expensive when we all know it's not (considering the specs). There's a reason they continued to redevelop the ps2 and continue to make games for the ps2 (such as persona 4) which is also the reason i'd tell you to go buy a ps2 and if you can't get it modded or a region free loader, then go buy a jap ps2. can't do that? tough luck. have you even tried looking? because i'm sure you can find one. and ps2's aren't even expensive compared to what they used to be. if you really wanted to play those imports, you would've just brought a couple more ps2s and tried to mod it yourself seeing as you're so smart. but you didn't.

Complaining about not being able to play imports is an old issue that should have been dealt with the ps2 and should be completely disregarded now that playstation 3 really wants to just focus on the next generation of games. I don't even think you could justify any reason for the ps3 to have backwards compatibility now that your comment has pointed out you didn't buy a ps3 while they still had the emotion engine in them. so please, don't even think about saying remove the dvd regions from the games because you know how to burn dvds that all computers, regardless of selected region code they have, because after so many years of having region locks on ps2 games, it's pretty obvious. they won't start doing it just for you. so you'd better just sit back and wait for the jap games to be available for purchase on PSN.

It's not sony's fault that most people saw the ps3 as expensive. So as i see it, you have no valid reason to voice out your opinion that all ps3's should have the emotion engine for backwards compatibility when you contributed to the reason why sony had to remove them in the first place.

so go get an emulator and go play it on whatever platform you have to. just don't say that sony didn't give the people what they wanted. it's the people that made them do this.

dotzeno

Comments on Engadget & Joystiq live from Sony's E3 2008 keynote

for your information i bought the PS3 the very first day it was released. I recall getting up at 5 am to pick up the system I had reserved 3 months prior at gamestop. the store opened at 7 and i picked up a controller and resistance fall of man. There were only 8 in the store and they reserved 12. I still have it and opened it for the first time yesterday. I have firmware 1.0 and have not played it until now because it would be a waste to use it if all the good games started coming out this year and I refuse to play it on anything less than a 52 inch 1080p plasma. Im gonna keep my original firmware until some1 finds a way for me to play my Berserk millenium falcon game on this thing. I'm not what you would call a hardcore gamer, I'm on the internet far more than actually playing games.

As it stands I have at least 3 unfinished PS2 games I need to finish playing. I bought 3 titles (last year) hoping the online servers would be online still (TM:Black and MN Auto Dub Edition) and it looks like Atari took down the Test Drive: Unlimited servers as well.

TOCA 3 but I don't play it as often as its not as nice as GT4 in terms of car control.

There's plenty of "life" left in the PS2 and I'm not shocked its still selling well, I only bought mine 3 years ago, I was still playing my original PS2 I got back on launch in Oct of '92 if I remember correctly and playing my PSX emulator because I could record gameplay and do screen caps without a capture card (even though I have one).

I don't think you can make any additional demands on Sony, they have already dropped the price of the console and it capabilities have not been fully exploited yet.

Sony has sold more consoles since its launch than the 360. I'm not a Fan Boy, I support Sony as they have been the console of choice for me since the early 90's, there's nothing on the 360 that interest me. If you're one of these First Person Shooter type players, the 360 offers you some decent games, no bashing, just not for me. Just like the Wii has too many casual and childish games on it, despite its lower price point, I have not RUN out and bought one.

I was waiting for GT5 actually. But MGS:4 has interest me, but then again, I still haven't played the other MGS games on PS2, its on my list of things to do.

Whatever version of the console is backward compatible is available when I buy my console, I'll move the PS2 to the car, since I have a screen, navi, dvd unit in it now, gives me something to do when I stand in line waiting for my chance to run down the 1/4 mile...

Anthony Thomas

Comments on Engadget & Joystiq live from Sony's E3 2008 keynote

You bought a launch Ps2 in 1992?

The first PS wasn't released until 1995 (US).
