It would locate the edge of the road and highlight it.   And it wouldn't be looking too far down the road. The reason that companies havent been researching it is that it hasnt been profitable. To prove my point all you have to do is go for a five minute drive on the freeway to see the ratio of suvs/ vans/ trucks to compact/ subcompact and motorcycles. It's especially useful at night or other times where visibility isn't as good and it's a lot harder to see the edge of the road. Older drivers make more decisions based on how easy it is to get out of the front seat than on technology. <br><br>Until GM (and more critically, Ford) get some youth (or at least forward-looking baby boomers) in leadership roles they will continue to steer their once-proud American company into the dirt. Along with their remaining brand-loyal customers.<br><br>Oh, but soon we'll have the $25k, scratch that, $35k, scratch that, $45k Chevy V(olt/aporware). What happens if on a dark foggy night an object like a deer happens to cross the road: Does that bright blue streak curve the line to avoid the deer or does the streak ignore the deer altogether?<br><br>The point is if you require this as an aid in driving, maybe you shouldn't be driving.
