60GB Xbox 360 shows up for preorder at Circuit City, two days later than Amazon
If you're looking to step up to a 60GB Xbox 360 but have an irrational fear of Amazon, Circuit City just put it up for pre-order. The price is still $349.99 but ship date is August 6, two inexplicable days later than Amazon. The site lists an HDMI output with upscaling DVD player, which is nice to see. Other than that, all else looks to be the same -- no Circuit City bonuses like cables, games, or other schwag.

Cool. Wireless receiver? Thats new. I wonder what that is.
sepirioth @ Jul 20th 2008 3:40PM
Classic circuit city is what it is :p
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 3:45PM
its probably a built in wifi reciever so you don't have to buy one like on the original.
Shadow08 @ Jul 20th 2008 4:09PM
Finally MS is including the Wifi adapter! I hope the Elite gets updated with this included.
Phil Perman @ Jul 20th 2008 4:31PM
I doubt its wifi, probably just the IR receiver for the optional remote
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 4:33PM
@Phil then why did they say wireless reciever, if they meant IR reciever?
Mike @ Jul 20th 2008 5:05PM
honestly, i dont think its built in...
its probably just that xbox wireless adapter
BarryBee @ Jul 20th 2008 5:13PM
They're talking about the wireless receiver to pick up the signals from the wireless controllers. Microsoft still hasn't and probably wont ever throw in the wifi adapter.
Josh @ Jul 20th 2008 8:07PM
@Sly Fox:
Then why didn't they flat out call it WiFi? Surely people would get more hyped up about WiFi than a "Wireless Receiver". It's just the IR port. Microsoft would be hyping up WiFi like crazy right now trying to get it into everyone's head that they finally added it.
I need to get a new one for college (unless my roommate has one or I end up being allowed to take the PS3 up there (which would blow)) and the 60GB model is looking rather good to me right now.
Muha @ Jul 21st 2008 4:03PM
Just for the controller...they would have said wireless network adapter or something like that
KEROLiUKAS @ Jul 20th 2008 3:32PM
It ha been ever since the pricedrop...
scymrmn @ Jul 20th 2008 3:32PM
Isn't it SWAG? (Stuff we all get)
turnedge @ Jul 20th 2008 5:39PM
yeah, it's swag, but it's not an acronym.

Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 3:40PM

stephen jobs @ Jul 20th 2008 3:36PM
Less Microsoft news, more iPhone plz

hdbrown465 @ Jul 20th 2008 3:36PM
A wireless receiver? Wifi?
Eric B. @ Jul 20th 2008 3:37PM
Still no $100 upgrade for the people who have no HDMI consoles? I'm just guessing the $100
Tony Rayo @ Jul 20th 2008 11:12PM
Not really sure what you are talking about but this console will support component, composite as well as HDMI. I've been waiting a while now to buy a 360 and this seems like a good deal; however I am going to buy it at my local Gamestop and buy their warranty and probably pick up some used games while I'm at it (until the firmware on these drives get hacked too =p).
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 3:38PM
Cool i sent this in about an hour ago, that was fast.
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 20th 2008 3:43PM
I wonder how x-box will survive now that games for iPhone and iPod touch are being developed. Should be an interesting year.
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 3:49PM
ummmm, having 10x better graphics, online play, better games, and being able to play it on a screen bigger than 3.5 inches??
asurroca @ Jul 20th 2008 4:02PM
I almost want to rank this guy up (almost, but not quite)... either he's being sarcastic, or this is the funniest fanboy comment to come along in a long time...
computer.dude.28 @ Jul 20th 2008 4:08PM
I can do that too. Watch.
I wonder how the car is gonna survive now that they have bicycles that you don't even need to put gas in!! It's gonna be an interesting year.
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 20th 2008 4:34PM
slyfox :)
iphone has online ability.
-computer tethering
-better games? soon :)
-x-box has better graphics? not by much
-first rpg to be released by italian company soon
-iphone has gps, which can tie into games.
hmm.... instead of arguing now lets wait and see.
we should atleast wait till this iphone craze has died down.. but that wont be for awhile. it isnt helping that apple is sold out around the world :(
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 20th 2008 4:37PM
@computer.dude.28
with gas prices possibly 57 dollors a gallon next year? (Yeah thats right, 57)
im willing to bet that iphone and bike will dominate. again.. lets wait and see..
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 4:42PM
LOL, almost as good of graphics. Well of course they are goin to look good on a little 3.5 inch screen but if you blew that up on a 32inch T.V. it would look like crap. And anyways the iphone isn't a gaming console, it can't compete with one, if anything it would be morelikely to compete with the DS, but there is no competition between the Xbox and the iphone. And how the hell are you going to use GPS in a game?? and also there is no online MULTIPLAYER on the iphone so stfu. And ppl aren't going to buy the iphone for the games, they buy it for the internet and the media(and touchscreen of course)
deyanimay @ Jul 20th 2008 4:51PM
No physical buttons, enough said.
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 5:00PM
the truth? Dude you don't get it. Iphone IS NOT A GAME SYSTEM. Gamers are not going to buy an iphone to play games on when they could buy a 360. enough said.
Seminole @ Jul 20th 2008 5:02PM
SuperSexyErik,
$57 a gallon? Who's your drug dealer, I want some of his shit.
For the iPhone being the second coming of Jesus according to you, you don't use it to read the news much, eh? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080717/ap_on_bi_ge/oil_prices
And tell me how the iPhone is supposed to compete against the Xbox graphic wise... Plus I'd love to see the iPhone handle a 12 player COD4 Search and Destroy game on ATT's network, let alone how you are supposed to hold the iPhone and play the game at the same time. What will the monthly charge be for service... $200?*
Get real man.
(* I'm a PS3 fan personally, but even I will come out to defend the Xbox against retards)
metal @ Jul 20th 2008 5:19PM
@SuperSexyErik
you know how I know you're an idiot? because you put wwjd in an argument about the iphone.
Jesus would almost certainly be more interested in helping poor and the oppressed than arguing about the iphone on the internet.
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 20th 2008 5:21PM
a creul tease on gas, what Americans don't realize is that those Arabs have us by our ballz. they can charge whatever they want for gas. and the more we piss them off the more they will charge us. i mean it comes from the ground, should be free right? (12 cents per gallon in venezuella [SPELLING?]) anyways, iphone is the next gaming device. It currently has more developers than x-box(not all developing games though) should be an interesting year, and if your so confident in your x-box, then it should sell right? we will see ! im gonna go play my 3d games on my ipod touch, be back later :)
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 5:42PM
why am i low ranked?
roach @ Jul 20th 2008 5:47PM
I make games. Once my employer tells me to start develop iphone games, its time to move on.
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 6:05PM
BTW: i was jk
metal @ Jul 20th 2008 6:17PM
@ slyfox
I wouldnt be impressed by being low ranks. I'd put money on him finding a way to abuse the voting system.
thatrotierkid @ Jul 20th 2008 6:34PM
I dont see the iphone being a competitor w/ xbox or an counsel for that matter. Unless you can hook it up to a tv in ur living room, watch HD movies on it and play games with high detail it cant compete and any device that small is not goin to be able to top a system 10x its size.
on the other hand, i can see it being a competitor w/ the psp and ds if apple chose to go that direction with it. the multi-touch interface could really open it up to some interesting game play (much like the ds). however, the work of developers alone wont make it happen alone, its going to take help from apple and att.
disclaimer: i am not an apple fan boy and i dont own an xbox. i have a wii and samsung glyde. i didnt go w/ the glyde b/c i dont like apple, but b/c i didnt want to switch providers for a lot or reasons.
metal @ Jul 20th 2008 6:46PM
so you want me to believe that you arent abusing the voting system even though the majority of the items under this post that oppose you are low ranked and the guy who by his own admission is not black and keeps using racial slurs is not low ranked?
FreeRange @ Jul 20th 2008 6:48PM
If I knew any 17yr old kid with an iphone, I think i'd call them preppy.
SuperSexyErik @ Jul 20th 2008 6:56PM
but I don't have an iPhone? Dam I wish, well who doesn't lol.
I have verizon for a few more months. Can't wait :D my iPod touch will do for now.
Ofcourse I gotta wait for apple to re-stock all their stores...why is iPhone so popular? ;(
jupiterthunder @ Jul 20th 2008 6:59PM
@Slyfox
I was wondering the same thing myself. Anything I come up with can be done sitting in front of your console with an internet connection. Maybe they plan on doing a treasure hunt game?
ronald.raygun @ Jul 20th 2008 10:04PM
you know you're right i looked at the 360 version of star wars the force unleashed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RkBiYpD3SDc
or the iphone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFquV4uvc3Y
Sue Vang @ Jul 20th 2008 3:47PM
So is this Xbox360 going to have a smaller chip size like the Elite or is it still the same as the regular Pro version but only an upgrade in hd?
3dxine @ Jul 20th 2008 3:50PM
So where is the Jasper?
Sly Fox @ Jul 20th 2008 4:09PM
well i think this new model is going to have the Jasper chipset because in the article on the Jasper chip they said that it would be shipping out in the august models, and the new 60gb model is coming out on august 6th so, lets hope
David M @ Jul 20th 2008 3:48PM
I wonder if "wireless receiver" means it receives the wireless signals from the wireless controller. If so, dumb.
I seriously doubt they'd include the $80-100 wifi overpriced dongle although that would seal the deal for me and I'll buy this over a PS3 (I own neither and can't choose)
Phoenix @ Jul 20th 2008 5:03PM
Yeah, that's what I though
