A LCD snuck behind the stove splashback, with a protective/wipeable pane of glass infront would of been much more usable. I suppose you have to do this when you put in the kitchen though.

I have a breakfast bar with a 20" Samsung LCD sitting on it. Since the point of a hood is to catch all the smells and fumes that waft from your food, in THEORY there shouldn't be much going out and over the top of it. and while i'm at it, i am not a microsoft fanboy. i hate microsoft fanboys. and apple fanboys. there is no rite answer to the microsoft vs apple. different ppl have different needs. It just makes it more difficult and more expensive to upgrade or to repair any one of the components.
Besides, like all the monitors in my house I could esily integrate it in my home system, I was able to attach an IR rec/sender to connect it with parabol,a media extentder to connect it to my NAS and a nearly invisible 2.1 speaker system. I also could attach a little HDD so as to use it as a digital photo frame while playng music.
For reasons of space I choose a LCDTV that had an inbuilt DVD/CD player and Even that I'm not sure it was a good idea even though the samsong brand should give some kind of guarantees for quality.

Bottom of the line: buy all your components separate, don´t even have your HT /HiFi receiver integrated with the amplifier. Nothing.

Mine is currently on top of a tall fridge which is way above eye level and bordering on neck straining!
I have no spare walls, little spare worktop space but I do have a cooker hood I want to replace.
But it is bound to mega expensive :| Maybe a DIY special is in order :-)
