Fujitsu Siemens' Amilo Mini gets spied on video
Hey, remember that teeny-tiny Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Mini we spied a few weeks ago? You do? Good, because we've just discovered video of the as-yet-unreleased device in action. According to the source, the device will be officially revealed at IFA this year, and will be priced around €300 to €400 ($475 to $634). It won't blow your mind, but if you've been hoping to see a short, quickly moving fly-by of an extremely diminutive laptop, here's your chance. Enjoy!

Seriously, though... how many little netbooks does this make now out in the marketplace? Like 432? Two-thirds of which come from Asus.
From what I can tell, the top ones are from:
- Acer
- Asus
- HP
- MSI
- and the upcoming Dell
Even that failed.
Are we going to be expecting 5000 different models that will eventually make this a regular notebook?
"Even that failed."
LOL, ahhhh, mister gloomy-face no likey. Hey, at least it went against the flow. But thanks, Striker. Can't say I was expecting a different response!
Hold on while I help rank it to "Lowest".
There are so many EEEpc clones coming out. It's interesting that of all manufacturers, it wasn't Dell, Apple, HP, Toshiba etc. but Asus that pioneered this niche.
Apple wants to lower prices for a bigger piece of the pie, it'll be interesting to see what effect cheaper Apple products will have.
fujitsu has been making tiny pc's for a long time. I hardly think that they are cloning the EEEpc
so how (if at all) is this any different from your average run-of-the-mill netbook? (still not comfortable with that term)
I'm not comfortable with that term either.
And further more, they are calling it a UMPC, which hardly classifys it as such
This pc is ridiculous, build a better keyboard, ergonomics are not going to get worse and hands aren't getting smaller. You will regret owning this product.
Against the flow? I've seen people say last more than I can count for... No, you are more like a tributary flowing into the vast river of fail.
Does anyone know what laptop is under the tiny one?
nevermind, followed a link. Pretty meh.
"Against the flow? I've seen people say last more than I can count for... No, you are more like a tributary flowing into the vast river of fail."
That many times, eh? Interesting. And news to me - I've been around here a long time and have never seen it used. Well, no matter.
So now you said my effort was flowing INTO a vast river... but if I said it again, would my tributary not just merely flow into a vast river, but instead, BECOME a river in and of itself? Because to be frank, the whole "tributary" thing is a bit humdrum and boring, and a river is so much more interesting.
Here, let's try it out...
LAST!
Did it work? Is it a river yet? Is yours and my comments adding to the "flow"?
The problem with these netbooks is there's such a multitude of them (as I mentioned before), that most get lost in the shuffle and garner no more than a yawn.
I don't really know how some of these manufacturers actually expect to make any kind of a dent in this segment of the marketplace. It's not that people have never heard of Fujitsu, but I'd venture to think that most people who buy a netbook are going to stick with one of the top five vendors I mentioned above (as those five seem to be marketed the most (at least in terms of netbooks). All the rest remind me of the ocean of PMP's we see coming out almost every week - most people will pay them no mind and in a matter of days or short weeks, they'll fade into oblivion except for those few brands that get the most exposure.
I suppose that's not unlike everything else, but it always begs the question, "As an OEM, why bother making something if you aren't going to really market it?" It's such a waste just to create yet another "we, too!" product.
Yeah, they all are exactly the same, only M912 from Gigabyte is a tablet-convertable, and has expresscard, but that is a bit more expensive than other netbooks.
Emm funny that no one so far mentioned the p2120. I have one and it has 1280 x 768, card bus, USB , firewire, old but working ATI video, wifi, etc and its not even their smallest, Fujitsu has been making products for this niche for a ling time. I also have 5 Eeepc 701s. The p-series has a good keyboard and 12 hour battery life. Trust Fujitsu can dominate this market. I love my Eeepc's but the only area they beat Fujitsu's subnotebooks of old is by the CPU performance of the Celeron M. Did you guys know it was the Transmeta CPU that led Intel to develop the Pentium m and Atom line?

Lil' Wayne is the hardest fail of them all.
Give it up, you're trying too hard.
Kidcanuck, you seem very concerned about this whole "thing". And I, in turn, am concerned about your concern. However, I'm not quite sure what "thing" you're referring to. So the elusiveness of the context of your concern also has me, once again, concerned. Regardless, whatever "it" is, you've clearly expressed concern for your fellow man, or perhaps concern for your own condition, and for that, I'm not sure if I should be tickled by how personal you're taking all of it, or if I should be further concerned.
Or perhaps you're concerned that a "tug-o-war" of sorts, has ensued. Well, let me be the first to alleviate your concerns. However, if that be the case, there still is the concern of defining this "rope" which you elude to, by way of your concern.
Now, let me be the first to potentially place your concern at rest by sharing that I have indeed, always been the type of person who's striven to put forth his best, and that perhaps this characteristic has been the cause of your concern. But the truth is, you have no further need for concern as I am merely being myself which does not constitute effort, nullifying your concerns of excess in whatever context.
With that said, I do have a concern that you may not be getting enough fresh air or vitamin D or laughter - needs of which I have personally recognized as vital and fulfilling when met, and in which then, in turn, can alleviate other concerns.
If you'd prefer to talk out your concerns further, we could start up a dialog about it. Your call. Either way, my concern, and prayers, are with you.
