I doubt it, even the smallest of portables don't last ALL day, not even* 12 hours (few exceptions). Is this a clever ploy to get some more hype directed at the Eee line? I hope no actually, bc this brand is losing steam fast.

Asus: how about you go back to your nice 7 or 9 inch portable and keep working to make it better instead of keep increasing the LCD size hoping we would be swayed like some naiive sheep (although some are actually dumb enough to be buying the upcoming 10 inch which for the same price, you can get a REAL computer a few inches bigger, that can do much more)? See the idea is : ultra portable, UMPC, not Increase size until money is milked out of every oraface.

Asus: please wake up. I still like your Mobo's though :)

ShadowKain

Comments on "Whole-day" Eee PC batteries coming later this year?

People complained about the 701s screen/bezel and keyboard so they made the 900.
Atom came along so they made a 901 and improved the 900 by giving it BT and wireless N amongst other improvements.
People would ask what's the point in going back to improving the 7" with bezel when they've got the 9" in the same form factor - getting rid of the bezel means shrinking the case giving an even smaller keyboard causing more complaints.
They come out with the 10" to satisfy those complaining about the keyboard and at the same time improve even more.
Then there's the 904 which gives a cheaper option for the bigger keyboard problem.

There's me thinking they were making it better. They've increased the screen size past the "nice 7 or 9 inch portable" by 1 inch and you're complaining?

To me it looks exactly like what they're saying, filling in the gaps:
Some people want the smallest of everything/cheapest - 701
Some people want a bit more - 900/1
Some people want a bit more still - 1000
Some people want a bit more but with a bigger keyboard without spending more going for the top model - 904

And i'm dumb enough to get the 10 inch. So what if you can get a full size laptop for the same price, it's exactly that, a FULL laptop, so it's big and cluncky. Don't see many 10 inch full specced laptops for the 1000/H price. The 1000H is only £20 more than the 901 so you must be pretty dumb if you think the 9" is nice when for £20 more "you can get a REAL computer a few inches (plus another inch) bigger, that can do much more"

ilh

Comments on "Whole-day" Eee PC batteries coming later this year?

I completely agree. I am sick and tired of hearing all these Engadget readers (and editors) complaining about how Asus has a lot of Eee models, how they're moving away from 7" laptops with large bezels, or how they use the Eee brand for several products now. Those are THE most idiotic complaints I have ever heard. What is wrong with choice? What is wrong with their branding? You can still buy the 7" if you want, but why buy it if you can get a 9" laptop in the same dimensions? Don't you have something worthwhile to complain about? What started as a few complaints has turned into a firestorm of Engadget "me-too"ism that is only rivalled by Digg and 4chan.
