I took apart a 4GB Cruzer Micro (which runs fine on the 3.3v supplied on the mini PCI-E) and etched and cut out a mini PCI-E shaped card.  I have some important information automatically backed up to the flash in case my HD dies on me suddenly. I've seen some old devices use PCMCIA flash drives.
