GamePark's GP3X leaked in spy shots, called the 'Wiz'

Apparently, a leaked shot of GamePark's next iteration of the GP2X -- the GP3X (not to be confused with the Pandora project) -- has gone and gotten itself leaked onto the interblogs. According to a post on GP2X News, the new system (which is being called the "Wiz") isn't set in stone, but will contain some form of a system-on-a-chip, and apparently will allow GP2X emulators to run after a bit of recompiling. There's not a whole lot of information available right now, but we'll keep you posted -- in the meantime, enjoy the photo.

that plug in the bottom is a verizon charger usually for samsung or lg phones.
and you can obviously see the photoshopping. which is why its at that angle, so your focused on how nauseous it makes you instead.

Actually those connectors aren't unique to Verizon (funnily enough, a US phone company doesn't determine what connectors are used by Korean multinational phone manufacturers). In fact they're not even unique to phones. The iRiver Clix and a whole clutch of mobile phones share a particular plug design (looks a lot like that, might not be the same) which is designed to supply power, data, and AV in/out, the actual functions used varying according to device (the phone data cable omits the AV connection). It had a microcontroller built into the plug which made hacking your own difficult but it's long since been identified. I dare say it's ideal for this sort of project.

For me, the Plug looks exactly like the TV out of my GP2X. If you believe it is shoppen, then fine, but the plug certainly is no reason for scepticism.

It does look exactly the same, which, even though the connector style is common, isn't a good sign. Besides, the connector isn't rotated correctly to fit into a port if it were straight. It looks to me like it's kinda fake, so I'm not going to go ahead and jump on it. I think it's a good thing, because I believe it looks quite ugly.

GPH has already requested the image be taken down from ZodTTD's blog ( http://www.zodttd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2823 - the original source) and the GP32X forums. I'm not sure what they were thinking with the 2nd d-pad instead of face buttons, but hopefully all the backlash will help them realize that it's a mistake.

the connector on the bottom is one from a telephone, its very similar looking to the EXT connector of the GP2X though and probably isnt for power....

it wouldnt suprise me if it has the same flaws as the gp2x as apparently it just uses an upgraded magiceyes SOC.

There is no way that this thing will make it to final production with 2 dpads and no face buttons. They know full well that people buy these things to play emulators on, they need a SNES-compliant control input.

That said, the only other thing I can gleam from this photo is that it features an internal rechargable battery. That is a major step in the right direction. Think they keep keep the touch screen?

No, it's not just a portable emulator, it's an open games handheld, which means you can use it for way more than playing old games. The GP2X had a myriad of quality original titles, part of what makes it such a great system :-)

These things are really pointless at first you do think its cool but you end up not using it give it a week or a month, and then it gathers dust. It seems like a good idea but it has no place or time (I had a GP32 whatever). It might be just me.
