That's right chicks and dudes, iTunes 7.7.1 is now available for your downloading pleasure. Does it snap the App Store liberties you've been taking? Will it enhance your audio? Is it spying on you and your loved ones? Only Apple knows for sure.
I'm more interested in Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300) which is available now from Windows XP Update. Let's have an article about that. Can we? Please?
Why complain about something when you voluntarily came onto this site, voluntarily clicked the read link, then voluntarily replied your BS. Just move on if you don’t like Engadget’s reporting methods. Sheeeesh….
My point was that it's ok to go and whine over there as well, or whatever. Just the whiners buzzes off somewhere else. Why not just skip the news that don't interest you? Engadget can't be tailored after everyones opinions. Why not start your own newsblog if you're so unhappy with Engadget? Oh. You can't..? Well, those who can't do better should not bother complain for something you're offered free and on top of that ain't forced to read. I guess you people haven't found the right site for you then. Go and search for whatever it is you need and make it a Long journey, and you might want to bring along a sandwich or two cause I don't want to see you back anytime soon.
I wish all you whining knuckleheads would STFU and go somewhere else. You are not paying for this site or for any advertising. A bunch of big baby lowlife ass clowns. (Stop thinking you are entitled)
Read the comment. He said to mistakenly install it. That's because every time you update iTunes it pressures you install Safari too with their garbage Software Updater. That's what he meant.
j_g_puff, that update has been available for ages. It's included in the .NET Framework 3.5 redistributable installer. Don't know whether it's been on WU, though.
no offense to everyone who thinks TUAW is for stuff like this... but I find the information there to actual be enlightening and helpful to my Mac user experience in most cases... whereas here...
i come here just to laugh at stupid comments regarding the latest attempt at advancing digital camera/cell phone/notebook tech and how tired everyone is of Apple posts...
c'mon Engadget... maintain the status quo... don't wreck a good thing.
This is not a news site. This is a Weblog also known as a Blog. It is views, opinions, and summorized sometimes plagorized version of news. If you want news, figure out your political offiliation and find a source that supports them. I HATE DUMB COMMENTS.
No but it screws up your iphone... when I plugged my 3G to sync it took me to the set up your phone screen and all I could do is restore from previous backup (which failed) or set us as a new phone. Yeah, Apple is turning to Microsoft. Sick of it.
I hear you there... am starting to look at Lenovo for my next notebook, all the good looks, UNIX core and UI prettiness is for nothing if it's buggy, restrictive and a PITA to own. Buying Apple hardware and software used to be a win every time now it's an inconsistent lucky dip.
First time I aired such a sentiment publically... and I've been Mac OS since system 7 :-(
Ian: Funny, because I'd say the opposite. I purchased a Macbook earlier this year, and I'd say that before... oh, Tiger or so, OS X isn't worth a damn. But Tiger, and especially Leopard, finally make it an OS that is worth using.
But of course Apple is having problems now. That's what happens when you start getting a decent amount of users. The more people using your software, the more likely someone is to run into a problem. And while Mac computers continue to grow in popularity, iPhones and iPods are probably one of the most widely used devices from a single brand. By now almost everyone has an iPod of some kind.
@ Andrew I am glad i don't live in a country of Apple Dependents...only seen 2 Ipods in real hands and im 22, one of them were a real old one..... Nothing against Apple...but for the price point they have? i can buy a MP7 and still have money to offer another one to my girlfriend...
No problems for me. If you guys want to switch to Linux, go ahead. I doublt that will improve how the iPhone works. Or save you the $200 for the phone and AT&Ts cancellation fee.
However there are rumors of him using the not yet unveiled "iDump" prototype. Basically it takes the crap from the holy one (Steve) and puts it in a bag as holy shit grenades. 3 second timer. Not 4, nor 2. 3 will be the number thou will count to.
For me, it's caused an App update problem! before it was just alerting me when i had an update available, now it's telling me ALL my apps have updates available! I downloaded them, and synced my iPhone 3G, but it still says there's updates available!
On a side note, all App artwork is now rounded, but other than that, i haven't noticed anything.
That's because Microsoft don't save up their fixes for one big monthly update. They have this annoying habit of fixing serious problems as and when they arise.
Ever hear of patch Tuesday? Check for Windows updates on the 2nd Tuesday of the month... The only time Windows updates their stuff, thus spawning exploit Wednesday, giving you about 30 days to exploit software without a fix...
Macs may not be perfect, but in my experience, they are much better.
Now that we've thrown 'em off the trail, use the form below to get in touch with the people at Engadget. Please fill in all of the required fields because they're required.
downloading now
It's one more chance for me to mistakenly download and install Safari
This is NON-NEWS
Please, unless your going to post every MAC, WINDOWS, and LINUX updated then don't even bother.
Breathing now... more news to follow!
And this is what passes for news...
You know, Josh, there IS a Weblogs, Inc. Apple Blog.
http://www.tuaw.com
it is pretty pathetic
It's as simple as this:
If you don't like it, don't click it...
BREAKING: Engadget.com updated the news stories on its front page!
Click the 'read' link for details.
I'm more interested in Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 (KB929300) which is available now from Windows XP Update. Let's have an article about that. Can we? Please?
You know, Ryan Trevisol, there's other gadget websites.
http://gizmodo.com/
Why complain about something when you voluntarily came onto this site, voluntarily clicked the read link, then voluntarily replied your BS. Just move on if you don’t like Engadget’s reporting methods. Sheeeesh….
The trouble is the other gadget websites do this too.
i don't think they posted this so much because the new version of itunes is out... but that it doesn't really seem to update anything.
@Chuckles:
Safari, um sucks in comparison to other browsers. Why would I use that when the app support in Firefox 3 or the speediness of Opera is avaiable. haha

worked fine for me...
and seriously, this is not news
Actually I have a iPhone 3G too and it didn't screw with mine at all - you might want to call 1-800-My-iPhone . . . . .
I hear you there... am starting to look at Lenovo for my next notebook, all the good looks, UNIX core and UI prettiness is for nothing if it's buggy, restrictive and a PITA to own. Buying Apple hardware and software used to be a win every time now it's an inconsistent lucky dip.
First time I aired such a sentiment publically... and I've been Mac OS since system 7 :-(
Same problem for me, when i connect the phone, it says "restore from previous backup" but i dont want to?
Ian: Funny, because I'd say the opposite. I purchased a Macbook earlier this year, and I'd say that before... oh, Tiger or so, OS X isn't worth a damn. But Tiger, and especially Leopard, finally make it an OS that is worth using.

YEAH!.. screwed my iphone up too!..
..oh, wait.. i have a lg viewty. never mind.
No problems for me. If you guys want to switch to Linux, go ahead. I doublt that will improve how the iPhone works. Or save you the $200 for the phone and AT&Ts cancellation fee.
It did tell me to restart my Iphone but I just closed and opened Itunes and it worked fine from there, yes that is a very "Windowesque" behaviour.
In other words Steve Jobs will be taking a dump in the staff toilet next to the canteen 09:40am this morning.
That's confirmed.
However there are rumors of him using the not yet unveiled "iDump" prototype.
Basically it takes the crap from the holy one (Steve) and puts it in a bag as holy shit grenades. 3 second timer. Not 4, nor 2. 3 will be the number thou will count to.
Nice Holy Grail ref.
1... 2... 5!
then we can feast on Oranguatans
skip ahead a bit, brother
Hopefully it fixes ringtone generation which hasn't work for me with 7.7 at all.
ahahaha
"oh shit, theres no apple news.... What will we do?!"
"Run that lame story about the iphone factory picture"
"We already ran that!"
"Oh shit... Was there an apple update or something?"
"Yeah but it itunes has already told everyone..."
"fuck it its news!"
..........
LOL!
I usually reiterate the fact if you don't like it don't comment on it... But i lol'ed at this hahah
This fixes the iphone apps update issue
For me, it's caused an App update problem! before it was just alerting me when i had an update available, now it's telling me ALL my apps have updates available! I downloaded them, and synced my iPhone 3G, but it still says there's updates available!
On a side note, all App artwork is now rounded, but other than that, i haven't noticed anything.
Woohoo. I can now connect my iPhone and not have to wait 5 minutes before iTunes stops hanging.
Same here. I had to wait 5 min. for iTunes to recognize my iPod Classic, but it's fixed now.
And why have i not seen detailed news stories on every single item in Windows Update?
Theres a good 300 stories in there per year!
Now THAT was funny!
That's because Microsoft don't save up their fixes for one big monthly update. They have this annoying habit of fixing serious problems as and when they arise.
Probably because Windows is about as boring and mindless as your comments.
Ever hear of patch Tuesday? Check for Windows updates on the 2nd Tuesday of the month... The only time Windows updates their stuff, thus spawning exploit Wednesday, giving you about 30 days to exploit software without a fix...
