1) There are differences between a government and a corporation, namely: you may choose to contract yourself with a corporation, but have no choice about obeying the government; and the constitution places restrictions on the government, not on the people or businesses.

2) Apple is not monitoring your device. You are freely giving them information about your purchases by the simple fact that you make them.

3) And as an extension to 2), Apple is not disabling applications based on monitoring your usage of them. They are disabling applications based on the author's abuse or negligence regarding the rules of the SDK.

Well, actually, "alot"(sic) of college campuses AREN'T. A handful, maybe 8 at the most, private, liberal arts colleges are. Kind of like colleges that "recommend" Apple - it'd be irresponsible at best, destructive at worst.

The rest of the world, especially the adult world, does not run on Apple. It would be a disservice to teach college kids Apple, and turn them loose on the job market, utterly inept when it comes to using business computers and tools.

xhadow.....what bit rate do you get of EDGE, seems like it would be pretty low. That's probably the issue I have as it must use a higher bitrate so EDGE won't cut it. I was using XM's streaming service as well as Orb for streaming music here in El Paso on a ATT 8525 well before they rolled out 3g a few months ago with no problems. So I don't see why itunes wouldn't work at streaming.

Mobile phone carriers continue to clamp down on download usage. It is really going to be difficult if you see companies capping data connections at 1GB.

I can totally envision a world where you have tiered data pricing plans. A basic plan with a 1GB (designed for light web browsing), a 5GB plan (designed for streaming audio and some video), and an unlimited plan (designed for streaming videos and tethering). i have a theory about the 32gig iphone, I was thinking, the reason they may not be coming out with one and actually may never come out with one, is this CLOUD idea they came up with, my theory is in the near future they will announce an expansion of this cloud system that will enable it to also be storage for your iphone/ipod so instead of buying more flash memory, you will buy more space in your cloud, and you could have your entire mp3 collection in your cloud accessible anytime you need, and a nice advantage of having stuff in your cloud is, you could keep all your private info in your cloud, and if you were to loose your iphone, u call apple or go online to your account and deactivate that iphones access to your cloud, making your data allot more secure. And with a system like this having an 8gig iphone is more than enough, 8gig is lots! if you have a huge cloud! What do you think of this idea? seems plausible to me, cause it really seems odd to me that apple wouldn't have released a 32gig one yet and its odd to that they never talk that they will either, so when i heard this cloud business it clicked!, i wonder???
