Every time something cool and new is planned "soon", it always takes so long that nobody is interested in it anymore. Like those Lithium Ion batteries that are supposed to have 10x the capacity of current ones, I heard about them so long ago that I'm only mildly interested in them by now. And they're still probably years off.

Now if this collision avoidance system makes it to market within a couple years, I'll be assume when implementing accident avoidance technology. The system does a certain protocol under a given set of parameters. What if applying gas would be necessary in the situation and applying the brakes only causes a more severe accident? The driver might have known what to do, but the car took control of the situation.

Mark S

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

definitely, Nissan would be screwed if something like that happened

chi

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

What the hell Nissan!? how bout just making cars not robots on wheels!

so when should we expect to see this accident avoiding, self-driving, acceleration-hating car to hit the road? this just sounds like a recipe for disaster.

kojo87

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

If there is a little glitch in that system things could get bad...

Balam Herrera

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

If there is a glitch in the computer that controls your fuel injector things could get bad, but I don't see you complaining on that front!

Brandon

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

@ Patrick, not everyone lives in the US you know, as a matter of fact, Nissan is from Japan.

eko2

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

I pay for the gas, I want to be able to ram other cars!

/just to fit in with my comment on the other Nissan 'driver aid' thread

UnixSystemsEngineer

Comments on Nissan shows off two more collision avoidance prototypes

This is why you should back in to all packing spaces.
