NZXT's Avatar gaming mouse gets previewed, likened to a Razer
You don't even need to dig into the machine translated read link to understand that the gaming mouse you see pictured above looks a lot like a Razer, but NZXT's Avatar is a beast in its own right. Best known for lavish (and stylish) PC cases, the outfit has evidently seen fit to dip its toes into the wide, wide world of gamer-centric input peripherals. Boasting a 2,600DPI sensitivity rating and a rather unadventurous design, the Avatar should fare fine in heated deathmatches or WoW raids, though it's probably overkill for the Excel maven. Nevertheless, the currently unpriced unit has been previewed quite thoroughly by the folks over at TweakPC, so give the link below a look if you could ever see yourself wanting this in your arsenal.

My real dream is just to have 2 iPhones as my speakers, 1 iPhone as my screen, 1 as my keyboard, and 1 as my mouse. We can't be far from turning that fantasy into a reality. Let's go, Apple.
DooM @ Aug 9th 2008 4:33PM
Maybe we could get them to do some hivemind shared computing
Dustin Frazier @ Aug 9th 2008 4:38PM
Does the retail version come with all the cord?.
Ghen @ Aug 10th 2008 7:17AM
I hope not, I've been gaming with a G7 wireless logitech for a year now and the MX1000 before that.. Both have performed flawlessly. Its time for all mice to go wireless.
kojo87 @ Aug 10th 2008 10:54PM
nothing wrong with a cord. i dont find much of a performance difference but i figure im saving on batteries using my Razer DeathAdder instead of some wireless mouse. i've used a Logitech G7. nice mouse. but im not about to pay more for wireless.
what makes this mouse look like a Razer is the 1 and 2 buttons stick out over the front. makes it look extra aggressive.
zomg0t @ Aug 9th 2008 4:58PM
Unfortunately it is unlikely that anyone has a resolution wide enough to see the end of your comment.
AndrewAmazed @ Aug 9th 2008 5:02PM
wow, the previous comments are all pretty lame...
please show me how this has anything to do with an iphone, or anyway you can compare it to a frikkin iphone.
zomg0t @ Aug 9th 2008 5:04PM
Not only that, but you forgot the R.
What a failure!
0mega @ Aug 9th 2008 5:06PM
What the hell are you talking about "Looks like a razer" ? Are you blind? Nothing like a razer, neither quality or appearance wise, Unless you count it being "black"
Zeth Ethereal @ Aug 9th 2008 5:24PM
I agree, it doesnt look like a razer at all!
mackid105 @ Aug 9th 2008 5:52PM
it appears to have a long body like the razer along with side buttons so if by "looks a lot like a Razer" they meant looks a bit like a razer then I agree otherwise I'm with you guys
0mega @ Aug 9th 2008 5:59PM
Razer's are featureless, but curvy, this has wings and all sorts of stupid styling touches... Nothing like it (Diamondback owner)
thequinox @ Aug 9th 2008 7:51PM
Not only does it look nothing like a Razer, but as usual NZXT has manages to make another product just as ugly as it's cases.
Cal @ Aug 9th 2008 8:21PM
Not all NZXT cases are ugly, look at the LEXA range
Adam @ Aug 9th 2008 5:36PM
It's actually somewhat similar to my Logitech G5, I do like the all black though!
BirdofPrey @ Aug 9th 2008 5:49PM
I can hear the advertisments for the iPhone cluster now
mackid105 @ Aug 9th 2008 5:54PM
upon first glace at the read link it seemed as if i was starring at a shoebox they could have gone with a cooler design for the box
Matt @ Aug 9th 2008 6:00PM
Did anyone read the review? They barely speak English. "To his name more profitable to market, the Californian manufacturer NZXT decided to his bid to fan wider."
paul34 @ Aug 9th 2008 6:16PM
Maybe you failed to notice that the link is actually an automatic translator?
Of course they barely speak English since the page is in GERMAN.
kr @ Aug 9th 2008 7:08PM
That's because it is Google-translated from German.
kr @ Aug 9th 2008 7:10PM
That's because it's Google-translated from German.
zomg0t @ Aug 9th 2008 6:13PM
And yet you didn't notice the missing R when you yourself wrote the comment. What a fucking retard. Get the fuck off the internet, n00b.
Phoenix @ Aug 9th 2008 7:11PM
Looks more like most Logitech mice I've ever used. their mid- to high-end ones
thequinox @ Aug 9th 2008 7:53PM
NZXT's cases are neither lavish or stylish. Most of them are just steel boxes with ugly looking thick plastic slapped all over it. They are tasteless. And so is this mouse, WTF is with the flared back?
deyanimay @ Aug 9th 2008 8:01PM
But can it airbend?
dies irae @ Aug 9th 2008 9:26PM
haha, avatar... made me laugh.. just a bit
Daniel S. @ Aug 9th 2008 9:59PM
But can you shut up?
Sam Morris @ Aug 9th 2008 8:14PM
I disagree with the comment about NZXT case style, owning two myself I think they're tasteful, if perhaps conservative with their build quality. This mouse just looks uninspired and drab though, not to mention I need something absolutely durable for a mouse. NZXT stuff is all well and good, but they make too many stupid design decisions to be worth considering for such a vital piece of gaming apparatus.
Abuzar Baloach @ Aug 9th 2008 11:31PM
Hey Sam, whats up?
Abuzar Baloach @ Aug 9th 2008 11:01PM
HOW DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND?
The iPhone can NOT deliver the same caliber of games available on the PSP. How the hell with you control those games? on a Silly little touch screen? Something tells me you've never had a jailbroken iPhone before.
It was HELL trying to run PSX games on the thing. It's not easy to control even SNES games with the iPhone touchscreen. Try playing Megaman X on it.
Abuzar Baloach @ Aug 9th 2008 11:02PM
Ignore me. I'm a retard. I thought this was the touchscreen PSP post.
DarCowAlways @ Aug 10th 2008 3:23AM
I've got me a Razer and I love it. 4000 DPI. 3000 DPI seems slow xD
Well it helps that I have a 22" screen, otherwise it wouldn't feel quite so normal. Anyway I don't have any complaints about it, really comfortable mouse.
Paralityk @ Aug 10th 2008 5:25AM
It looks more like A4 Tech X7 series, look at placement of 4-th and 5-th buttons they are in same place as in X7, also it seems to have a DPI switcher, maybe even it switches in 2 ways. The X7 series is already selling for ex. as a MSI mouse in addition to their gaming notebooks. But the only difference is the color - red. Here it looks like hole look is different.
Matt @ Aug 10th 2008 6:14AM
so you are obviously happy about a "Fist"?
sip @ Aug 10th 2008 7:34PM
@matt,
normally i'm terrified of fists
Decoy @ Aug 10th 2008 8:43PM
FFFFFAAAAAAAIIILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL
AlphaTeam @ Aug 11th 2008 12:04AM
Looks grip part looks a bit like like the Logitech Revolution…
Wwhat @ Aug 11th 2008 2:46AM
Victim of tabbed browsing eh.
Wwhat @ Aug 11th 2008 2:49AM
Trying to cash in on the batman franchise without mentioning batman I reckon.
Wwhat @ Aug 11th 2008 2:50AM
One idea thought: rename it "the dark avatar".
OneLove @ Aug 11th 2008 10:31AM
It comes in a shoe box?
OneLove @ Aug 11th 2008 10:36AM
The best mouse is the A4 Tech X7 with 6-DPI-Shift, 2500DPI, w/ 3xFire Button, illuminated scroll wheel with colors for each dpi setting.
Wwhat @ Aug 11th 2008 10:16PM
Due to the age we are living in I now have nothing but mice with DPI switches for upto 2000, and no matter what game I play I find never ever use them.
I wonder if that's just me.
getnate @ Aug 11th 2008 12:28PM
It should have been called the Bat Mouse. I could see it on batman's utility belt.
vg @ Aug 11th 2008 6:32PM
Guess Engadget refuses to link to a proper english review. There has been a page that has had the review up sind friday. Google it guys, you should find it. Not sure if I may post direct links here.
Wwhat @ Aug 11th 2008 10:17PM
People link to stuff all the time.
