iPhone mod turns the Apple logo into a mini-flashlight

Sure, this video feels like it might veer into creepy snuff-film territory right at the beginning, but luckily it just reveals a fairly sweet looking iPhone mod. Apparently some Russian iPhone fans have replaced the regular, boring Apple logo on the back of an original iPhone with an eye-piercing, glowing version. There's not a lot of detail on how this is done -- and the video is in Russian -- but the source link claims it's just a matter of, "removing the aluminum 'fruits' and inserting the glowing ones." We'll see about that. Otherwise, check this similar step-by-step mod seen earlier. Eerie video included after the break.

Update: As commenters (and Croiman himself) have pointed out, this appears to be a boost of the impressive Croiman Psycho iPhone mod we saw back in April.

That's pretty cool, but the biggest question I have is what does it do to the battery life of the phone.


As an aside, I think it looks pretty sexy - the aluminum back with the backlit apple logo. I was a little upset, from the aesthetic point of view, that Apple switched to plastic, but I understand why they had to do it. A phone that also happens to be its own Faraday cage isn't so great an idea I suppose.

because there's all the phone parts between the backlight and the back of the phone. It wouldn't work like a laptop does.

I had thought of this a while ago, while dreaming of the 3g iPhone that had an enhanced camera with flash that could be the apple logo. It is a pity that didn't happen until now. I would bet $2000 rubles that they do this on the next iPhone.

iPhone mod turns you into more of a corporate tool by providing free brand broadcasting.


A better mod would have been to make it FLASH for the camera and write a camera app to make use of it.
