(e6600 overclocked to 3.7, 8800GTS, etc.) Vista is made to adjust to the amount of RAM that you're using so you'll load programs that are frequently accessed faster. All games run on my system and I've never ran into a problem (aside from initial release where Nvidia decided that they didn't feel like making Vista drivers). I even run Crysis with all settings on High (some Very High) using DX10.

I've also loaded Vista 32bit basic on an old laptop (an IBM X40 and Dell x300) with 512mb of RAM and an old Pentium-M 1.2 and it runs MUCH MUCH better than XP. It's much more responsive but, you don't feel like it's an upgrade because you don't get the fancy effects.
You don't get much incentive for running basic Vista over XP if it comes down to paying for an upgrade. ...but, on a decent system it's definitely worth the upgrade to Home Premium or above.

PynkFloydd

Comments on Windows 7 in-depth technical info to be divulged in October

If, by seat you mean toilet, then yes.

Tired_

Comments on Windows 7 in-depth technical info to be divulged in October

I am still trying to come down from the mind-blowing experience of Windows Vista.
