Sanyo offers up "entry-level" 1080p PLV-Z700 LCD projector
"Entry-level" and "1080p projector" don't often go hand-in-hand, but Sanyo's mashing the two terms together with its PLV-Z700. The Full HD beamer provides a 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution, 1,200 ANSI lumens, 10,000:1 contrast ratio, twin HDMI 1.3b ports (along with an array of others) and a variable iris that can "control lens iris adjustment every 1/60th of a second." Unfortunately, the most tantalizing tidbit has been omitted for now (yes, the price), but word on the street has it shipping to the UK in October.[Via AboutProjectors]

You may want to start looking for 720P projectors if you've got a sub $1K budget

This has the same specs as the PLV-Z2000 you can get right now for around $2,200 - $600 mail-in rebate (i.e. 1,600).

No the contrast ratio on this model is lower.

I've got a PLV-Z2000 and it's been fantastic. Great image quality, very quiet, versatile setup options. Throwing a nearly 150" diagonal image from about 14' back, and I can't imagine ever going back to a regular TV.

Same here with the Sanyo Z200, except at 120". Everything else is like looking at those old timey 5" black and white teevees in the huge wooden consoles.

Why would I want this (LCD, yuck!) if I can get an Optoma HD800x DLP for the same price or cheaper?

I also have the PLV-Z2000, throwing a 170" diagonal image from 17' back. It's amazing. For only $1,600, you can't beat that.

ah, that seems like a nice beamer for a rather nice price (1499 euro), but when will they start replacing the bulb with a LED-counterpart, as the bulbs are still the biggest problem with beamers (life is unpredictable, and colors change rather quickly).
I myself have an Optoma H79 (1280x720p), and I guess I'll be replacing the bulb one more time, and then I'm propably gonna look for 1080p beamer (still haven't got any HD-sources (Except for my computer, which I have not connected to it), so for me it's not that important yet)..

Well, I am happy with my current projector even though I want to upgrade to either the AE2000U or 1080UB. 2nd choice is PLV-Z2000. My next projector will be the bulbless one that was announce here not too long ago. Hopefully it doesn't break the $3000 mark.
