Seriously, I don't understand the myth behind XBOX LIVE hating. For all the flak M$ gets, with LIVE it is remarkably easy to connect with friends regardless of what they're doing on their 360, voice chat with anyone anytime, and more all seamlessly through the dashboard. Sure the 360 has its FAIR share of problems, but at its core, LIVE is a service worthwhile for any console gamer. Sure, VALVe has done a similarly great job doing this with Steam, and since the PC scene is a little different when it comes to online gaming, it is natural that their service is free. Correct me if I'm wrong, but Microsoft foots the bill for all if not many of the XBOX Live services and their required bandwidth. All in all I think its a fairly good deal, considering my experiences with PS3's online capability. I don't even want to bring up the Wii and 'friend codes'. This puts the Elite at the same price as the PS3 ($399). However on the XBox, you get No Blu-ray, no Wifi, locked into Microsoft harddrives, and have to pay to play online..

PS3 has all the great games coming this season (Gears2 aside perhaps).

I went through the same argument in my head before getting my 360, "if I just wait (X) more months falcon (whatever the next one was at the time) will be out". I decided to just get my 360 and low and behold, twelve months later I got the RROD. What does Sony have left to strip out to cut cost/lower price? Wifi module, maybe the included drive just to let you pick your own or use a spare one you have sitting around. PS3 doesn't have any really great games coming out, if they do, most likely they will be on the 360 anyways, so the war there should be dead.

I own a PS3, 360 and Wii, and I can tell you by experience, the 360 has way better online support then the PS3, Wii wasn't meant for online gaming, it was meant for parties really. PS3's online content is a joke, it's so hard to figure out some of the stuff, and their updates are just pumped out faster then the 360. I've had the 360 for a couple of years now, and I've only had to do four updates, one major, and three minor. The PS3, I've had to do two major updates already in the span of a month. not very good, not very good at all.

PS3, no HDMI only comes with Composite cable, shitty ass cable, no Optical cable, go buy your own. 360 came with the Component Cable, all ready to go, Optical cable was 6 bucks but still. So all in all, if you have to compare the two systems, 360 for online gaming, PS3 for loner gaming, and Wii for real people gaming.
