It's always this way with new technology because the companies want to get their return on all the money they invested in R&D. Until it becomes main stream and everyone is making a 10mm - 8mm screen, the high price won't drop. Flat panel prices are keep drooping with each new, improved version that comes out. Why doesn't someone make a TV that has the thin display with all that other extra stuff in an external box connected by a single wire. It would make wiring a home theater a million times easier. It would make mounting the ultra-thin screen super easy.
