Life with PlayStation delayed, destined to be free
You know how it goes with Sony and PS3-related peripherals. A big introduction, followed by a slight delay, followed by a longer delay, followed by a little something to take the sting off. Here we have word from Noam Rimon, senior development manager at SCEA R&D, that the news-blasting (and uncomfortably named) Life with PlayStation will once again be delayed. According to Noam, Sony is "still pushing some paperwork" on the service, though he gave no expected time frame for the actual launch. Nevertheless, he softened the blow by announcing once and for all that it will indeed be free (and accessible directly from the XMB) whenever it finally goes live. Gotta take the good with the bad, we guess.

It will suck compared to Xbox Live anyway.
WhoMe @ Aug 31st 2008 5:37PM
Do you even know what this is?
Aarun @ Aug 31st 2008 5:44PM
Ah, guess I don't know the difference between "Life" and "Home". My bad.
maty @ Aug 31st 2008 5:49PM
Besides, Xbox Live [gold] isn't free, this is.
Not that they're comparable =].
Pumping_Iron @ Aug 31st 2008 6:59PM
Get a LIFE !
:P
Pumping_Iron @ Aug 31st 2008 6:59PM
BTW...that was meant for Aarun !
Big Ed @ Aug 31st 2008 9:37PM
You know, life. Something you don't have. And home, where you live in your parents basement.
NineT9 @ Aug 31st 2008 5:30PM
kinda funny "Life With Playstation" is delayed, as if thats how it really is in the life inside playstation with lots associated with playstation get delayed :D
I still love Sony though, in the end, they always do it right :)
jason @ Aug 31st 2008 5:40PM
the should really really really try to release home before this.
Paul @ Aug 31st 2008 5:41PM
everything sony has done this gen has been delayed
they might as well not talk about these things until they are sure on a release date
Sora @ Aug 31st 2008 5:46PM
Or just not mention a release date..
jed @ Aug 31st 2008 5:53PM
Poor Sony. i know, as a designer, it can take years upon years to 3d model an entire squarish room with a plain jane looking girl in it. But to make it have a chat function?!? surely they have to get NASA involved, this is far too ambitious. i for one think that waiting for more than a year is entirely justified for this momentous project, you naysayers be damned. When I buy a 600 dollar video game system, I don't want it to just outperform a PC for the same money, I want it to have an INTERACTIVE CHAT function, no matter what sorcery you have to employ. Just imagine, you'll be able to not only not play games, but to associate yourself with people who are also not playing games. This is surely the first time this outstanding concept has come to fruition. I challenge any of you PC or Xbox naysayers, what game in the past 15 years has enabled you to communicate with the people you are playing with? None! What game system in the past 5 years has enabled you to SEE your friends as you casually chat with them in some sort of "lobby." HA! Choke on your sadness!
Amazing sony, my eyes are welling up with tears. Your mind bending ideas are on the cutting edge of technology.
skilled44 @ Aug 31st 2008 6:01PM
hater alert...
steven @ Aug 31st 2008 6:13PM
Well they probably have more than 1 person working on it. Or you're just not a very good designer.
Homeboy @ Aug 31st 2008 6:17PM
Well we Xbox fans aren't jealous at all. Good luck interacting with a bunch of immature 15 year olds in front of your 42 inch TV, I know it's going to be so much more fun than doing it in front of the PC.
John @ Aug 31st 2008 6:21PM
You realize, of course, that the problem is that it ISN'T a new idea, so they have to try and make it absolutely bloody amazing or no one will care. Feel free to submit a resumé to Sony and see if they want you on their team, Ace.
Skyride @ Aug 31st 2008 6:27PM
lol.
Either way, Steam kicks Xbox lives ass too. That is the ultimate. The PC is far better for this as its just such a versatile platform.
Hguh @ Aug 31st 2008 7:32PM
You doucebags are talking about HOME, not Life. Take a pill and chill. Maybe give a chillpill to your high horse too.
Alex @ Aug 31st 2008 7:48PM
I believe he said they were delaying because of paper work not the design? Therefore your sarcasm just makes you look even more ridiculous.
sinjinn @ Aug 31st 2008 9:03PM
you wrote all that sarcastic comment , it was so well thought out and very humerous except in the end it makes you seem a bit foolish for you are talking about the WRONG thing. this is a 3d model of the earth showing real time weather patterns and contains no bland room and girls or chat functions
hahaha , now we all laugh at you instead of with you. hahahah... everybody laugh at the foolish one hahaha.
loosely_coupled @ Sep 1st 2008 1:35AM
wow, all that? You sure wasted a lot of time and effort for something you don't like....
MasterCKO @ Sep 2nd 2008 3:19AM
"Maybe give a chillpill to your high horse too."
This is the best combination of popular sayings I have ever heard, hands down. +1.
Mike @ Aug 31st 2008 6:07PM
Free but shall thy be good?
Kspraydad @ Aug 31st 2008 6:14PM
Never thought is was going to be anything but free.
The automatic integration with F@H is a good move...more cycles donated.
Seems a few of you don't know the difference between Lw/P and HOME. Maybe you shouldn't comment for the sake of commenting, it doesn't improve your Gamerscore at all.
Mik @ Aug 31st 2008 6:56PM
Pretty much every post here is a simpleton that does not know the difference between LWP and Home.
I always figured XBox owners were morons, paying for something PS3 owners get for free, and the fact they make an ass of themselves futher vindicates this.. (sorry for the big words Xbox owners..)
Jon Graft @ Aug 31st 2008 9:01PM
Mik, you couldn't be more right. [+]ed
Alex @ Sep 1st 2008 2:58AM
What is the difference between Life and Home?
(Not being sarcastic, I just don't look into PS related stuff much, but I know about Home.)
)law( @ Aug 31st 2008 7:01PM
Cant argue with free besides I would rather it be late and almost bug free then have them rush it out the door and be fully of bugs. You guys dig what I am saying?
)law( @ Aug 31st 2008 7:05PM
Damn I meant *full of bugs...
The Dude @ Aug 31st 2008 7:07PM
Sounds like a bad TV sitcom or a punishment--i.e.: Life With PlayStation without the possibility of parole.
The Aggie CEO @ Aug 31st 2008 7:12PM
as a PS3 owner I would wish they dont give dates........just say "Coming 2008" that gives them an ENTIRE YEAR to give us whatever it is and we wont be looking for it..........
although I'm the patience type so I can wait a while longer on something that I dont have to pay for....lol
Hguh @ Aug 31st 2008 7:36PM

staypuft13 @ Sep 1st 2008 2:56AM
It's okay if you paid $400+ for Sony's hopes and dreams. They'll get it all sorted out by the time the next gen Xbox and Nintendos come out.
c. thomas @ Sep 1st 2008 4:37AM
Well why don't you look at that. I would've never have thought, something like this would happen?!
Tony Rayo @ Sep 1st 2008 4:53AM
I have a theory that a lot of people hate the PS3 because you cannot play "backups" aka copied/downloaded/etc games on the system like you can the 360 and the Wii. It may not be the cause for all the anger, and it's not like the PS3 has a huge background of AAA titles, but I know some people hate it just because it hasn't been hacked.
Magus @ Sep 1st 2008 7:27PM
PS3 invariably introduces a few frames of lag due to upscaling of 480i signal, be it software or hardware-based PS2 compatibility, so I'm not terribly disturbed by any potential dropping of the latter anymore... PS2 games should be played on the PS2, and that's that.
GhostWorks @ Sep 2nd 2008 2:20PM
Everyone is entitled to there own opinion, however I like to judge for myself
I have both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and a friend has the Wii which he brings over from time to time.
The Xbox 360 for me is only good for one thing and one thing only - Media Extender - How ever it makes to much noise { Fans }
I much prefer the PS3 since its far better
