GamePark Wiz hands-on from Engadget Spanish
We've already seen early pictures and heard a release date for GamePark's newest handheld -- the Wiz -- but now Engadget Spanish has gotten their hands and eyes all over the device, and they've brought back photos to prove it. As you can see from the pics, the portable console will be offered with more than one style of casing, and apparently the company is setting up some type of App Store-like service which will allow users to purchase and download software, as well as share their own homebrew apps. According to our team, it looks like that October 8th street date will be pushed back till sometime in November due to issues with the right control pad (which GamePark is working to correct). Until then, you can just feast your eyes on the gallery below.

Not bad, only if it had a widescreen...

And a hemi?
Beggars can't be choosers.
unfunk @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:07AM
call me stupid for asking this, but why on earth are there two D-Pads on the thing?
Muhammed @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:20AM
one is a D-pad and the other are "Action Keys" which correspond to certain actions on the device.
atomicthumbs @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:56AM
They're replacing the right-hand one with action buttons. That's why it's been delayed. I'm still waiting for the Pandora, though.
Billy G @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:19AM
atomicthumbs: I certainly hope that's what the mean by "correct." Having two d-pads is just stupid.
But yeah. Pandora all the way.
Sachiejones @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:07AM
Nice, only if it had a widescreen...
IcuraFu @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:20AM
I hope by fixing issues with the right control pad, they mean that they are replacing it with round buttons. :D Then I'd buy one.
ahdok @ Sep 2nd 2008 10:20AM
They should just do a PSP and sell it with a defective set of controls on the right and call it a feature.
No-one'd get annoyed by that. honest!

Yes.

Nice joke, but please get your head out of your ass. The world is not just America*, Mexico, Canada, the 'Europe' nation, Russia and 'Chinasia'. Engadget Spanish is to Mexico like this Engadget is to Canada.
* BTW, please give your country a proper name, America is the landmass from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego.
Vidikron (FU) @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:22AM
"* BTW, please give your country a proper name, America is the landmass from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego."
You mean like the United States of America?
Wwhat @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:52AM
The question is what is the target audience of engadget spanish, and I'm guessing latin americans with cash (who often live in the US nowadays I gather), rather than the people from spain,
Wwhat @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:55AM
I'm sure canadians prefer not to be called americans, especially french canadians :)
Making the term america stick to the USA by effect.
Chester @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:11PM
Wwhat, you're saying it as if we were all poor in Latin America. I live in Chile and the living standards are different than in Mexico.
Peter @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:18PM
Yes, thank you Wwhat, I would be not be very pleased if someone called me an American; it's almost an insult!
BTW, I'm from Montréal, and I would not consider myself a French Canadian, since my background is not Québeçois nor do I speak perfect French, although better than almost anybody in the rest of Canada and the US.

This looks like old Archos gmini 400
Das Boot @ Sep 2nd 2008 11:07AM
This looks like my Sega Nomad from back in the day (which, I still have. Its really rare nowadays.)
andy @ Sep 2nd 2008 12:19PM
yay, another app store where you can purchase things... id much rather pirate them
greg @ Sep 2nd 2008 1:49PM
I like how the logo is "whatever you want"
Pablo @ Sep 2nd 2008 4:17PM
I think this looks more like a bigger version of the game boy micro than a nomad or a gmini 400. I have a flash cart for my gb micro, so in functionality its actually kind of similar, thought of course not as powerful (or potentially capacious) as the Wiz. If they get some conventional face buttons up in this piece, I think the Wiz is looking *very* sexy.
wootman @ Sep 2nd 2008 6:19PM
Meh, if they can get normal face buttons and developer support (neogeo, SNES, etc) then i just might be in.
Nelson @ Sep 3rd 2008 4:46AM
No puedo hacer, fuiste tu maria! . . . This is the spanish forum right?
