I recently hooked up my old 19" TN Panel Samsung LCD monitor alongside my 24" LG P-MVA panel (i need it for creating a website, sizing of elements such as text and buttons look different on a large monitor with different pixel pitch).

Yes, im rocking dual monitors, but the TN display looks like complete SHIT compared to my P-MVA. Looking at it at any odd angle, or even moving your head slightly shows a dramatic change of colour. Not only does the display turn almost completely black from viewing it from below, but from top the colours invert, it gets significantly worse though: the range of colours is total bollocks, it has more of a slightly blue hue and the is too dark for any kind of work, professional or simply recreational. I dont see how anyone could get excited, or even want to blog about, another useless TN panel LCD monitor. For the price their asking, its a total ripoff. You can get a similarly specced TN panel at the same size for much less. When you consider i paid $350 for my LG L246WP-BN, this NEC is ridiculous.

helloUser

Comments on NEC debuts "premium" 22-inch EA221WM LCD monitor

Long live high-end CRT's!
Seriously now, I have a question (for self education as I am looking for a monitor to buy (I want bigger work space).
My question is how does the P-MVA act in watching movies, playing games? are their any ghosting? Would a TN panel be preferred for such task?
Basically my budget is 700$ Canadian, and I am looking for a 22inch screen. Any suggestions, or what should I look for?

Thank you in advance for your time (to everyone that replies).

I know LCD in general are not as good as a CRT, and although nothing professional, I really do enjoy high color accuracy, and precision as I am in front of it for long period of time. And for the love of god, I don't get the obsession of the super reflective, mirror-like, glass and frame that some companies do. It's like they know that the screen is shit, and they try to do everything they can't so that you don't see the image on the screen. Ok so now I am getting off topic now...

Good_Bytes

Comments on NEC debuts "premium" 22-inch EA221WM LCD monitor

I have a NEC 17inch CRT monitor purchased in early 2004.
I must say I am REALLY impressed by NEC. Plastic did not get yellow, the style is preatty nice compared to other CRT back then (well they don't make them anymore, but I think if they still did with this kinda style, it would still bee nice)). The screen outputs a very sharp screen, excellent colors and with 85Hz, it's like looking at an LCD screen. And I never touch the display color, tilt, and other image adjustment settings (well only the usual width, height, position for the first time you use a certain screen resolution, but once set it's all good). It's max resolution is 2560x1600 at 60Hz (so flickering at that rate). I am really impressed.
Sadly, NEC LCD doesn't seam (based on reviews) to catchup this trend. Sure they are few models here and there that they release that is actually good, but overpriced. I am actually surprised that after all these years NEC has a hard time.

Good_Bytes

Comments on NEC debuts "premium" 22-inch EA221WM LCD monitor

NEC to monitors is what Sony is to HDTV's. Even if they are a bit pricey and the specs seem ho hum on paper, they have some magic that most other companies lack. I am currently using an hp2207 which many people claim to be the best 22 incher out there. Compared to my old 19 inch nec lcd this monitor leaves me uninspired. So please don't write this monitor off. At least wait for the reviews I'd be surprised if the IQ wasn't jaw dropping. You can at least admit this monitor is aesthetically beautiful. As for those that are whining about the viewing angle, its 22 inches and it sits right in front of you, sheesh.

Magdy

Comments on NEC debuts "premium" 22-inch EA221WM LCD monitor

O_O............
