It looks like a great unit indeed but the AE2000 should suffice for most. I am in the market for a PJ and waited for CEDIA new product announcements to see what would happen to existing model prices. Anyone know historically when the 'old' model prices tend to fall? Is it usually right away after an announcement or do we still have to wait a bit?

JCA

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

i just bought the 2000 for $2500. my heart froze when i read the headline. but i can live without the new features. the 2000 is a great projector.

jimmy

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

Matches perfectly with a PS2, so unfortunately its style is literally so four years ago.

Alex

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

Second!

Rob Pereira

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

The problem is the specs - 60,000:1? Epson just announced a lower price for the 1080UB (hooray!) and upped the MIR from $200 to $300 PLUS a free lamp. That's a pretty huge MIR, and IMHO the 1080UB is still holding up as a very good option. The new 1080P Sanyo may be worth a real look, though, if the rumored MSRP of $2k is true...

Richard

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

I like my Mitsubishi, but this one could be a big improvement in contrast, black levels, and color pallet. 1600 lumens is pretty bright, but still won't be used by most people watching it in the dark.

rcappo

Comments on Panasonic launches PT-AE3000 1080p home cinema projector

Wow, cool. Think I'll keep my AX200U though. I was really hoping that it featured 2000 lumens like my 200 does. So far my AX200U outperforms everything remotely close to it's specifications. It's only a 720p projector, but I am extremely happy with it. Still, I think Panasonic is on the right track with this one. It was sweet the last they had it. MSRP - $600 rebates - 20% from Dell coupon. This projector's aspect ratio is still 16:9, seems they could have made it in a superwide format! I got the Sanyo 2000 back in May 08. Right now, when I view a movie that's not superwide, I have to get up and lens shift and zoom down to watch it and now the image is smaller with black bars on the sides. Most demos on the web don"t show how this new feature really works? Is the screen their using 16:9 or superwide! This one fellow from Japan I guess, tries to explain and it's downright hard to understand him because of his english! Another question..do I still need to have a masking system? If that's the case, then I'll just keep doing what I'm doing!!!!!

NextGenScared
