If i was working on SONY's design team, I would have given you dual analog sticks and dual vibrating motors for force feedback.

#1 The game engine itself is loaded into the system's memory and run mostly from there. Button functions are not accessed from the ROM of the disk. If UPDATES came out for the games, the updates could be stored on the memory card with the game data saves.

YES, software updates could be issued to alter control.

#2 Old games could be updated to play on a newer PSP...NEW GAMES with DUAL ANALOG would entice more buyers if their gameplay was good enough to warrant buying them. That would rejuvenate developers to develop new software (based on old and current games ) for PSP.

Dual analog would be perfect for FPS games which are currently the number one selling genre. The PSP is far from a mediocre device- as a matter of fact, it is an exceptional device with many features and quality construction. The only thing it's missing is an internal hard drive/SSD.

To answer your question, yes, the PSP does sell, and in recent months has been doing very well for itself.
