Epson churns out 1080p PowerLite Pro Cinema 7100 and 7500 UB projectors
The HD projector flood gates have officially opened here at CEDIA, and next down the waterfall is Epson. The company is introducing the PowerLite Pro Cinema 7100 (shown after the break) and 7500 UB (pictured above) today, both of which boast a full 1,920 x 1,080 native resolution using the latest-generation 3LCD chips. As for the former, it features an 18,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio while the latter comes up with 75,000:1. Hit the read link for lots, lots more details on the pair, but here's the low-down on pricing / availability. The Pro Cinema 7100 ships in November for just under $3,000; the Pro Cinema 7500 UB lands just before Christmas for around $4,500.

No word on lumens?

If they can get the convergence right, then they have a true winner. The only reason why I didn't buy their 1080UB is because it had problems with the 3 panels lining up just right. If we're lucky Epson might have taken a page out of Sony's VW60 book and put in electronic convergence.

nathan,
Epson is not the only maker that has a hard time with panel convergence. The fact is any 3-chip design is probably going to have some misconvergence. At normal viewing distances the misconvergence disappears unless it is severely off. I have gone through 3 1080UBs, both that were operational had some minor convergence issues. I think dust blobs are much more of an issue on 3-chip LCD non-sealed light path designs.
Overall the 1080UB was a winner. It's too bad they are upping the price on the replacement, but it should have a higher lumen output with a 200W bulb versus a 160W bulb.

Why on earth isn't there a convergence adjustment, to physically move the panels if nothing else?

So where is the 6100UB to replace the Home Cinema 1080UB?
