AT&T Fuze gets FCC approval?
It's always good news when some sort of Touch Pro garners approval from that lovable bureaucracy we call the FCC, but this one has an extra-special place in our hearts: we're pretty sure it's the Fuze. Digging a little deeper into the documentation for the HTC model with code "NM8RPLT" reveals that it's a Raphael, and it sports HSUPA 850 / 1900 -- and if that doesn't dovetail nicely with what we're expecting out of AT&T any day, week, month, or year now, we don't know what does. So tell us, FCC, how are AT&T's customizations to TouchFLO 3D? Tasteful? Annoying?

Whatever happened to the nvidia phones? This is a step in the right direction, but not quite enough to compete with the iphone.
i bet if Apple released an iPhone like this everyone would praise it and say it has no competition..
Of course it would get FCC approval - the FCC sticker is 39.55 by whatever, and has this nice 12.0 by 2.0 dent in the top right corner! Good sticker, but can't compete with the iPhone sticker. Seriously, WTF should I get from the image of the sticker?
At least, it seems fuse won't be crappy, there is a crossed out garbage can.
Physical Keyboard = Better Than iPhone
I'm sold on the full qwerty keyboard, but just wish HTC could have slimmed it down a bit more.

It's a race ~ which device will hit the market first? BB Bold or ATT Fuze [aka HTC Touch Pro]
LOLOLOLOLOLOL @ fieldcar
I guess somebody didn't get the memo about how the Touch Pro makes the iPhone look like a downie
I'm not counting it out completely... I will eventually take a look at it.
Its just pathetic attempts to compete like samsung's instinct. Its a decent phone, but no iphone.
Oh Fieldcar... I just defended you...
And you go and do this. On your REAL account.
It's /better/ than the iPhone for "power uses"
Better OS features, just as good a UI for the most part... and better specs.
Maybe not so good for the "me too" crows, but FAR superior for businessmen and people who want FEATURES.
Funny thing is, i will probably end up buying this phone, I got a tech itch, and its bad... I've got a samsung sync right now... ACK!!!
cant wait for this phone
hopefully really does come out at the end of the month like its rumored too
anyone else having network data connection problems in NYC? its 3:12 im in midtown with no connection on my iphone
Because this is relevant.
What does this have to do with the fuze. Really, either comment on the phone or the article or don;t bother.
That's why there's cheap phones without all the advanced features that HTC devices have. For people who can't afford these, don't want the weight or don't need the features.
Yup, AT&T Wireless is down again in NYC.
It is so hard to compete with Apple's iPhone though because of the infrastructure they have created for it! Its a phenomenon that would cost multiple companies billions of dollars to compete with. The HTC Touch / AT&T Fuze may be a cool device, but Apple already has such a strong market holding and a "I like to dance in silhouettes with fedoras on" posse following that it could never even comptemplate being more popular or having the sales numbers that the iPhone has. And thats the harsh truth.
Sure Apple has a huge following of in the world market, but HTC has quite a bit of it's on market grab. Don't forget that HTC is a manufacturer for many companies/lines like O2, Qtek, I-mate, T-Mobile's MDA line, AT&T's higher smartphone lines and even the Sony X1.
Apple's popularity is to the point where they could poop into a small ergonomically shaped box and put a chrome Apple logo on it and it will sell. However, is that an indication that any other lines will not be able to trump the great and all powerful fruity one? I doubt it.
At least HTC is giving us more and more of what we want out of our portability and not some glorified digital music player that still doesn't even stand out at what it should do best (music quality)(aside from all the other problems...).
at PHO ^^
Billions of dollars for infrastructure, are you crazy? The only infrastructure needed is a decent 3G network. What the hell are you talking about? Are you aware that HTC has sold more of the original touch devices than apple has sold 1st gen iPhone's?
Strong market holding, i'm pretty sure WinMo kills Apple in worldwide market share hands down.
Even if I were interested in this device, the only thing I'd be concerned about is how easy/difficult it is to turn off touchflo 3D.
Start > Settings > Today
Uncheck "TouchFlo3D"
I've been waiting for a device to replace my iPhone as I am one of the few that actually thinks winMO is decent if utilized correctly.
Now the important question is, How much of the retail price will AT&T subsidize? I'm guessing this phone will be in the $399 with a 2yr contract agreement
rumored about 300 for new customer so il guess 400 for upgrades of course rebates
but nice thing at best buy no rebates all instant and usually cheaper too
I am fucking low ranking any one that fucking mentions the Iphone in their comments. starting with myself
Hey, I thought the Fuze was supposed to sport tri-band HSDPA? What's up with only the 2 bands? or... Am I missing something?
Fuze me baby!! But seriously, put a capacitive touchscreen and Android on this thing will ya HTC!
considering losing my n95 for this even though im still pissed about the whole 3.5mm jack missing but i'll wait for the review to make my decision. i still don't get why they had to name it FUZE like its extreme when they could just name it touch pro and not look like total d0uch3b^gz!
fieldcar
do you even know what the hell it is?
Winmo has been around for a tad bit longer than the iphone or the instinct you jackass
and the interface is totally optional but i tried it out it works quite well. plus you can actualy you know customize things to your liking? and not be controlled entirely by a big apple so shut it
Hmmmm.
Only dual band HSDPA - so no international 3G.
No 3.5mm jack.
Maybe I am waiting for the Xperia X1.
Where is that in the FCC space/time continuum?
Dude,I'm thinking the same thing.Although the prada 2 and the viewty2 look nice too.
Errr, if anyone at Engadget wanted to know about the Fuze they could've asked, but all they did was criticize my claim that I had it. After using it for 3 weeks... You won't be disappointed. Everything in TF3D can be changed to the OEM HTC if you like, but I liked their gray AT&T theme... You can even remove the AT&T tab with TF3DConfig. Not much bloatware, but it's all kept to the AT&T tab in TF3D so it's fine. Same hardware, all the bells and whistles (PTT button instead of front camera), and the keyboard feels gooooood. Email me if ya care for more, engadgeteers. :P
Hey Tom, I have some questions for ya but I have yet to discover how to send a message to another user. If you want me to drop you a line, idk how that will work without someone posting their address for all to see :-x
HURRY ON THIS PHONE! Its taking a damn while for att to announce this damn phone. I got my cash ready for this beautiful peace of hunk of junk (not junk jk). Flawless...
