Microsoft's profits are largely based on their industrial contracts. This is the key behind Microsoft's success and why Apple can't catch them. Apple relies on booms from consumers which can get them in huge trouble. If tastes change or consumers suddenly are unable to afford Apple's products, you'll see a lot of restructuring.
