With my Pioneer Inno I can listen to music while I walk / jog and get great reception. I have access to tons of channels including many sports and advisory channels (a god send when you need traffic information) and there are great selections of Rock, Talk and Comedy channels (I like Opie and Anthony (they're not the best but they're entertaining)).

Once you get hooked on Satellite radio you won't stop. I can dock it at home, listen to any channel and press record and it'll grab the entire song even if I started recording in the middle (you can pause live radio with the Pioneer Inno) for future use.

The quality is also amazing. You say it's compressed poorly but it comes in so much clearer for me than Pandora or terrestrial radio does for me. Granted it may not be the highest quality but it's better than most offerings out there.

Overall I really like XM and this play doesn't leave my side.

Kris

Comments on Pioneer-built XMp3 gets specced, shows up for sale

Yeah good look trying to listen to that stuff in the middle of the desert or listening to the same station uninterrupted while driving from LA to NYC...

Marc-O

Comments on Pioneer-built XMp3 gets specced, shows up for sale

wow, with a comment like that makes me wonder if you have ever listened a decent satellite radio station in your life!

Ross

Comments on Pioneer-built XMp3 gets specced, shows up for sale

I've listened to XM since 2003. It only sounds crappy if you use the FM transmitter. Even the "direct" connection to your FM antenna which Best Buy or other "pro" installers do sounds crappy. It sounds best jacked out directly to an audio plug.
That being said, I'll wait to upgrade when they offer a XM-Sirius combined satellite receiver. I listen to music (though from rental cars Sirius seems to have channels more to my taste) but listen to news and talk far more often. It is great if you have a daily hour commute and tire of local radio. I sometimes listen to an MP3 player, but having live new content is the game breaker.

AlphaTerminus

Comments on Pioneer-built XMp3 gets specced, shows up for sale

the cool thing about satellite radio is the variety of music you'd otherwise never get exposed to. like for instance: i never knew i liked bluegrass gospel music! and showtunes! (that doesn't make me gay does it?) i love my XM. i live in las vegas, and the stations here ALL suck. plus i get every baseball game all season. it's well worth 12.95 a month. plus i can download audiobooks from audible.com also, i get a clear signal ALL the way on cross country road trips. no terrestrial signal fade out. its the best.

alitlweird

Comments on Pioneer-built XMp3 gets specced, shows up for sale

However much it costs when it arrives, Best Buy will still be the most expensive place to buy it.
