HTC's Touch Diamond coming in white
If you're jazzed about the Touch Diamond, but have a thing for albino devices, a Danish site may have unearthed just what you're looking for. According to HTC-User, the company will be introducing a white version of their popular touchscreen device come October. We can't say for sure if this intel is pure gold or a pile of festering garbage, but if the pics we see (just renders right now) and the retail order page the site is linking to are any indication, this magic will be a reality sooner or later. That's a good thing, too -- you don't want Apple cornering the market on white and black touchscreen phones, right? Check out one more huge picture after the break.
Update: Engadget Spanish has confirmed that these are -- in fact -- the real deal, and will be headed to store shelves come October.

On a 220ppi monitor: yes.
Sachin @ Sep 16th 2008 4:39PM
this is the first white phone i've ever seen that looks moderately good. bravo!
Hardcore @ Sep 16th 2008 10:20AM
Maybe I'm colorblind, and even that wouldn't explain it, but that phone looks a lot more silver than white to me.
Shyam D @ Sep 16th 2008 10:23AM
Silver is the new White.
dj496 @ Sep 16th 2008 10:42AM
But I thought black was the new silver. My head's spinning.
gfar @ Sep 16th 2008 11:54AM
Agreed. By "coming in white" they meant "back and sides only coming in 'not black'"
teej @ Sep 16th 2008 11:53AM
pink's the new black, and silver's the new white. welcome to the world of eeeemo.
Spencer @ Sep 16th 2008 10:21AM
White! Genius idea! Think the hard drive will be bigger on the white one?
Steven @ Sep 16th 2008 12:25PM
You mean, instead of zero megabyte twice that number?
kccboy2004 @ Sep 17th 2008 8:06AM
The word Genius is now copyrighted by Apple. Please do not use this.
CJ @ Sep 17th 2008 8:31AM
So... What exactly IS double zero?
Because last time I looked, double zero is zero. So all that time you wasted posting was all for redundancy.
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Sep 16th 2008 10:23AM
I actually think thats pretty sexy in white, better in white than a certain other phone.
cesium @ Sep 16th 2008 10:36AM
I really do like the look of this in white.
ugg.tryptophan @ Sep 16th 2008 8:50PM

Nice, not as nice as the iphone 3G, but nice.
TareX @ Sep 16th 2008 10:39AM
Should have been all white, with the keys printed in black...
Frankie @ Sep 16th 2008 10:40AM
I know there have been lots of talks about the upcomming HTC Touch HD (Beautiful and Beefy!) And the endless debates about the iPhone (Innovative indeed) Both with brilliant Displays (though the Touch HD spanks the iPhone's Display, no question). Ubove we have another super beautiful device, with a nice hi-res (albeit small) display.
But... There is one device lurking which deserves much more attention and much, much more publicity then any one of the devices I just mentioned. Which device you ask? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsYFXGKUIpE&feature=related
(It hurts me to say this being that I'm a WM Enthusiast) The device in the link makes both the iPhone and the HTC Touch HD look like Toys! (though addmiditly I have not seen the UI for the Touch HD)
panamnyc @ Sep 16th 2008 10:48AM
niiice!
TareX @ Sep 16th 2008 10:54AM
You are ancient. Like 7 months old.
This is a prototype to show off NVidia's TEGRA processor. Yes it works miracles (10 hours of HD playback).
It will power Windows Mobile 7.
Surur @ Sep 16th 2008 11:07AM
"It hurts me to say this being that I'm a WM Enthusiast"
I dont know why it should. Nvidia is solidly behind Windows Mobile

That APX 2500 does look incredible. I hope to have my hands on something like that soon. It really does make Android and even iPhone OS look like old Motorola UI's
Eric @ Sep 16th 2008 10:40AM
Oooo, another iPhone rip-off. I'm betting Apple's REAL skeered.
A T-Mobile rep. tried to sell me on one of these HTC phones when I was trying to get a battery replacement for my Blackberry. Go figure. T-Mobile stores don't carry batteries! I told him I was done with them when my contract is over in two months, and I'm going iPhone. It may not have replaceable batteries, but apparently T-Mobile isn't going to be any faster to replace a battery either. And they don't have an equivalent plan like Applecare.
Jacksplat @ Sep 16th 2008 11:33AM
Verizon xv6900 - white before the iPhone. For the love of pete..wasn't there a white blackberry before the white iPhone? I mean...seriously...now if they use a color, it's considered a rip-off? Even if Apple didn't use it first?
And to be clear...A touch-screen smart phone existed BEFORE the iPhone (I believe HTC was OEM'ing them for various others). You may like the iPhone better...you may find the OS light-years better than anything else out there. You may feel that Apple has raised the bar in the touch-screen/semi-intelligent phone market. But by no means did Apple * create * this market. It's not a rip-off it's based off something that existed before the iPhone.
I'm not saying the iPhone isn't great (although no copy and paste/big-brother app store/apple bully lock out/poor 3G/many issues this time around sure shows that Jobs is human). But everyone working to try to better than the other guy is a not a rip-off. It's just the way things go.
7on @ Sep 16th 2008 11:39AM
You can use an iPhone on T-mo. I'm doing it right now in fact.
Argot @ Sep 16th 2008 12:06PM
Unlike the iPhone this actually works. But hey, if you like polished turds then iPhone is the right phone for you.
TMM @ Sep 16th 2008 10:40AM
Sacks of rice also come in white.
Odell @ Sep 16th 2008 12:05PM
What about brown rice?
CJ @ Sep 17th 2008 8:43AM
They come in brown.
Duh?

Less fingerprint smudges from no material or assembly line change. Convenient.
Hellaphunt @ Sep 16th 2008 11:15AM
Although I'm somewhat opposed to white phone (all electronics actually) I think they did well to make this white. I like it better than the all black. I'm glad they kept the face black though. Nice contrast.
wud_e @ Sep 16th 2008 11:27AM
Sure Beats Maroon.
thazlett @ Sep 16th 2008 11:31AM
be nice if they changed the specs slightly and added an sd card slot instead of being limit to just the onboard 4gb.
cmil1212 @ Sep 16th 2008 11:31AM
Looks stupid. The sprint version looks so much better...
jd @ Sep 16th 2008 11:33AM
Harry Potter and the Half Black HTC Touch Diamon?
Jacksplat @ Sep 16th 2008 11:35AM
Interesting you say that...the Sprint Touch was black...the VZW version was white. just saying...
h0rk @ Sep 16th 2008 12:24PM
i come in white too, well kind of milky...
Prey521 @ Sep 16th 2008 12:29PM
Bastard! you took my joke!! lol
Steven @ Sep 16th 2008 12:39PM
It makes sense. Apple has successfully been marketing white for years, but went for "Paint it black" for the iPhone. So HTC has to switch to something else if they want the TD to stand out.
Personally I'm perfectly happy with my black TD. And yes, I'm being asked at least a few times a day "Is that an iPhone?"
Andrew @ Sep 16th 2008 1:50PM
Now, will this here phone work on Verizon?
spt597 @ Sep 16th 2008 5:02PM
Who's getting this? Sprint, Verizon or one of the GSM carriers?
JJ-Zerg @ Sep 17th 2008 3:47AM
It looks very strange indeed! Why not changing the whole thing in white instead of half?
