Nokia's XpressMusic 5800 Tube launching October 2nd?
Okay, so first we heard that Nokia's Comes with Music service would be good and ready by October 2nd. Then we heard October 17th. Now, a certain "anonymous industry source" has revealed that the long-awaited XpressMusic 5800 (or the Tube, as it were) will be launching on the 2nd of next month. With so much conflicting evidence out and about, we're firmly in "wait and see" mode at this point, and considering that "launch" gives no indication of a ship date, we reckon you're better off doing the same.[Thanks, Mikkel]

Forget that, when is HTC HD coming out!
Rogue_Genius @ Sep 23rd 2008 5:51PM
Aside from the form factor, what are the main selling points of the tube? I haven't read much (and feeling lazy at the moment) so someone, please enlighten me.

Not a very convincing argument for people to help you.
But I'll give you one pro:
- It has haptic feedback, using a technology called haptikos. According to reporters that have tried it, it's like pressing real keys.

dude this was the hardcore phone that everyone wanted when they saw the dark knight! i wish i had t-mobile again right now.

Forget that also...
First App to come out is a G1 -> iPhone converter emulator
I want to see the first person to put Android on an iPhone...

erm, point? oh so you loose the multitouch and video playback!
lolec @ Sep 23rd 2008 7:03PM
Multitouch is a hardware thing, and since google doesn't castrate its developers, video playback will be there.

I'm sorry to say it, but this got blown away by the touch HD, it's funny that I liked the xperia now I don't like it, I liked this tube but now I don't care for it that much, it's amazing how your whole sense of gadget-taste can change by only 1 announcement!
L @ Sep 23rd 2008 7:21PM
This probably be around half the price of the Touch HD...so why is everybody comparing it to it?
Muhammed @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:11PM
No I understand you, I feel its also inappropriate to compare phones of different OSes because the OS is a major difference in the usability of the device, and hopefully Series 60 5th edition will prove that, I'm just stating my opinion.
IMHO, The Tube will be a nice music phone also.

I feel that more information would have been leaked already if this were to be true. So no...it'll be later than october, trust me
JohnTitor @ Sep 23rd 2008 7:49PM
that keyboard looks very N800esque
if it were running on Maemo 5 that would be cool
J @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:11PM
I can't wait to walk around with my bat-phone.
TareX @ Sep 23rd 2008 8:25PM
The Touch HD and iPhone are probably the 2 best touchscreen only devices out there. I wanted a qwerty and open OS so was looking forward to the G1. Seeing what a disappointment it is, I guess I can only wait for what 3rd party developers can do, as well as other manufacturers who'll hopefully learn from HTC's faulty design.
asg84 @ Sep 23rd 2008 10:13PM
this phone has symbian , that's the main selling point IMO, so that u already know there aren't many unpleasant surprises in functionality like in iphone or G1 .
too bad this having only 3.2mpx camera, wish there was a 5mpx with xenon flash
nokia has told this phone is targeting middle segment, so price wont be too high as HTC HD
ez @ Sep 27th 2008 8:50AM
what's the use of this device if it doesn't have nam 3G?
it's like getting a N82 all over again.
i'm not spending my hard earned money on eurasia spec phones.
sagar @ Nov 25th 2008 7:18AM
i cant wait more for this phone
