JVC unveils new Everio concept HD camcorder at CEATEC

JVC has hopped on-board the pocket HD cam bandwagon and brought some tasty wares to the table at CEATEC today, with the next gen Everio HD Memory Camera. This SDHC based concept is expected to be AVCHD ready with an HDMI port. There wasn't much more info to go around, but we expect full disclosure and a review unit real, real soon (you listening JVC?) -- or at the very least a hands-on at the show. In the meantime, feast your eyes on the above photo.

Is it me, or does it look like a mailbox from that angle?
It's not just you, Derek! It looks exactly like a mailbox! I wouldn't be surprised if JVC made it look this way just to make it attractive for mailbox aficionados like you and I.
It looks like a 9V Duracell battery to me.
thats what she said
(he asked for it, no seriously he did)
Does anyone else think this thing looks kind of like a 9-volt battery?
It looks more like an Energizer C battery...
Who cares! Compared to other HD camcorders, this one will fit a lot easier into a backpack or jacket pocket. That means one less bag on an airplane, or more convenience when you're shooting in a high-traffic environment.
To me it looks like an old mini-cassette tape recorder with a place to screw in a light bulb.
and yet we still only et AVCHD......
why, JVC, why
