More purported MacBook Pro shots surface, we're still unconvinced
While that touchscreen trackpad MBP might've been a bit too much to swallow, the rumorists certainly won't be giving up that easily, and have returned with more intriguing shots of what may be (but probably isn't) the next MacBook Pro. Submitted by "Techno Minds" to modmyi.com, the pictures were purportedly gotten off an Apple employee on an Apple design team. The dock-in-the-touchpad has been done away with, but the trackpad is still black, as is the keyboard and the display bezel. What's new here is the black back to the display and a lack of those Air-inspired curves that looked so janky on that other picture. The thing that amazingly makes this all even less plausible is the done-up promo shot (after the break) with rendering and photoshop artifacts unobscured by cameraphone fuzziness. Oh, and there's no power button to be found on any of these shots. Still, we want.

beastly? come on now.
jared @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:44AM
at least if it is fake, this person attempted to have some quality.
Bender Bending Rodriguez @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:05AM
Quality? A 4:3 ratio display and a smaller trackpad than before despite the use of multi-touch trackpad. These are the worst mockups I've seen.
Malweran @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:12AM
He's not talking about WHAT is on the picture, but rather HOW it is on the picture. different meaning of quality.
YoJIMbo @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:14AM
No, these are plain UGLY... Apple would never design something like this... Black top? Seriously... no indent for opening the screen!? no power button!? = lazy faker...
jared @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:16AM
Malweran gets it...this image doesn't look like it was snapped with a camera phone in the middle of an 8.4 earthquake. Picture quality, not product quality.
YoJIMbo @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:17AM
Also, the tag line isn't even proper English... if Apple DID use something like that they would say "beauty meets beastly power" or something like that... none of this blend crap. Hahaha.
Konstantin @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:35AM
"A blend of beauty meets beastly power" Really?! That's a bad slogan even for a fake.
EmoChicksAreHot.....Seriously @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:44AM
wow, these are not pleasing to the eye what so ever.I'm praying to God that those are just skins or covers on that thing.
MadMike @ Oct 2nd 2008 11:08AM
Could be a colorware job... with a homebrew keyboard.
Jared @ Oct 2nd 2008 11:11AM
It looks worse than Dell's attempt to copy the old Apple TiBook!
Gojulas @ Oct 2nd 2008 12:35PM
I find it hard to believe that apple would be foolhardy enough to take one of the most stylish and aesthetically pleasing portables on the market and turn it into that two-toned mess. I pray they don't change the MBP to that because I don't think I will be upgrading past my Santa Rosa MBP if they do.
Ironically enough, the Dell Latitude D-series was butt ugly but the E-series looks great...
POV @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:19PM
Maybe this website name should be more along the lines of...iGadget.com?
SirCrumpet @ Oct 3rd 2008 4:18AM
"Also, the tag line isn't even proper English..."
Though to be fair, this is coming from the guys that brought you The Funnest iPod Ever.
Josh @ Oct 3rd 2008 6:54AM
Yep, it's blatantly a colorware job.
Great looking though, as most colorwares are.
Arkenklo @ Oct 3rd 2008 2:44PM
I can only imagine how much I would laugh if these were real.
MadMike @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:45AM
I like the way it looks. It could be a pre-production prototype with some sample marketing shots. But of course, none of us will really know until this gets released.
Michael @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:22PM
Meets beastly power? Yea, that never would fly from Apple's Marketing Department
PuBeLeSs @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:48AM
at least a week old........
Thi mam(kris120890) @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:49AM
I'm not an expert but they definitely look fake photoshop to me, but they look seriously sexy and desirable. If I had the money I'd buy one.
xValentine @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:49AM
Still unconvinced ?
Those pictures might end up to be real just like the fat nano, iPhone, slim nano, etc.
And not to mention 2-3 days of massive new-MBP articles.
Jash Sayani @ Oct 2nd 2008 12:22PM
Pro, On-the-Go.....?
13" inch?... I'll but one. Pre-order. !!!
DiGiC @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:49AM
Man its cOLD in here...
Patrick R @ Oct 2nd 2008 6:58PM
hey dude it may be old but i would TOTALLY buy a macbook pro if it looked like this...
ralph @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:49AM
I don't understand what is taking so long I've been waiting at least a year. This is worse than the Bold fiasco of '08
canoo @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:50AM
"A blend of beauty meets beastly power."
hahaha too funny.
Matt @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:22PM
That would make a good match.com dating headline
Decoy @ Oct 2nd 2008 2:51PM
A blend huh? Well, that question is answered.
loosely_coupled @ Oct 3rd 2008 12:28AM
HAHA exactly what I was thinking.. Did someone really believe "A blend of beauty meets beastly power" would pass as something that Apple marketing would EVER consider ? lol
Zinger314 @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:50AM
The new MacBook Pro is so advanced, it powers on ITSELF.
NoAndThen @ Oct 2nd 2008 5:19PM
It's not that, it's just that Apple didn't see the need to turn your machine off manually.
They figure no turns off their mac, they just put it to sleep. If you really need to power down/restart, there's always the menu bar...
Here's hoping I was being sarcastic.
Joe @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:52AM
We've found that people don't need the power button any more. What do people use power buttons for? Three things: Turn your computer off, turn your computer on, and reboot your computer when it crashes. Now, the first is no longer necessary because you'll never want to turn it off. The second one will also be unnecessary because you computer will already be turned on. And the third, well, that's taken care of with OS X. It never crashes.
But, some people still want a power button. We think it's a thing of the past and we've moved beyond it by default. But, we'll also be offering an external power button for $99, so you'll have the option if you really want it - but again, I don't think you'll miss it.
Schafeman @ Oct 2nd 2008 11:02AM
It could be like the original Mac Portable where you had to press the space-bar to turn it on!
Andrew @ Oct 2nd 2008 11:26AM
or like the Apple Cube - just wave your hand over the power button and it turns on/off
Geek45 @ Oct 2nd 2008 12:27PM
@Joe
2 things
1)how do you get it on in the first place
2)I hope you don't have to go anywhere with that, because the battery's not gonna last that long
matt merritt @ Oct 2nd 2008 12:30PM
To those above (parent excluded):
Or it could be fake.
giedrys @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:56AM
Don't you people see? It's black! And that automatically makes it revolutionary! The new revolutionary MBP is here!
Snitch @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:56AM
LOL, looks like they where having some trouble with photoshop when they got to the keyboard, just look at it closely and you will see how Fake it looks, Also the Apple logo is just to damm big
fab @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:56AM
the image "Pro, on-the-go" is a fake... its width is too large, images on the apple website (intros) are a bit smaller...
joe23521 @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:57AM
Also doesn't have a latch/release thing, which is a change for the better, I suppose.
The mechanism on the current MBP sucks majorly.
Darren @ Oct 2nd 2008 9:57AM
That's so weak. These guys aren't even trying anymore.
nicko.dvz @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:03AM
i hope the increasing apple logo size doesn't increase the already giant ego of it's users.
sorry, but you know its true. thats why you buy an apple notebook right? for the apple logo?
AnyKey @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:40AM
At least it doesn't make me an inflammatory douchebag like yourself.
You people who assume all apple users are stuck up snobs are just as bad as the fanboys.
And yes, I do love my macbook thankyouverymuch.
Jmh @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:24PM
Pretty sure AnyKey just made your point...
morcheeba @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:59PM
@jmh: how would you have responded? Me, I try to ignore the trolls.
Zak @ Oct 2nd 2008 6:12PM
So buying a Mac for OS X never crossed your mind, huh nicko?
Also, if all Mac users have giant egos, then by your own example everybody who uses PCs are giant assholes. Is that about right? Hey, generalization is fun. We should do this more often.
Chanzo @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:04AM
I dunno who came up with that slogan "a blend of beauty meets beastly power", but it sucks. Just try and say it out loud, it sounds dumb.
Dizzy @ Oct 2nd 2008 11:52AM
I know, right? If they were going to go with an alliteration thing with the Bs, they could have said something like:
" A bold blend of bewitching beauty bombards beastly brawn."
Benson @ Oct 2nd 2008 1:29PM
But will it blend?
Beautifully!
Michael @ Oct 2nd 2008 10:05AM
I might be the only one here, but I think they are hideous.
